There are a couple of webboard stories going on -- forget the names (Golden Horizon and something else, IIRC), and I don't know a lot about them, but you can check them out (they're among the topics here).

Aside from that,there are currently three webstories on the EV/O boards-
BFS III on the EV board,which always needs players,and Golden Horison and Reign of Chaos III on this board,both of which have full player slots.

It is based on CS' model, but with a lot of improvments, changes, etc. I think you'll find it to your liking.
The site needs a few more updates to be 100% complete, but it will be soon and nothing essential to the gameplay is really missing.
As the Admin of uEV, I can testify to the fact that the game rocks.
