      Once you've completed the Voinian Defector missions, is it possible to still join the Voinians?

      Assuming from your post you didn't get the voinian mission before the defector mission, yes, it is impossible to pick up the Voinian mission, even though it IS quite possible to complete both mission strings, you just have to:
      1)Pick up the Voinian mission at Pax Station, but dont complete it-
      2)Pick up the defector missions
      3)Complete the UE mission string.
      4)Finish Voinian mission you picked up at the beginning.
      5)Finish Voinian String.

      Voila! UE Cruiser with neutron turrets and Bronev Armor... mmmmm

      Oh, if the Voinians still hate you after you finish the first Voinian recruitment mission, just begin blowing up UE ships (and ignoring voinian ones) along UE-Voinian border. Soon, they'll warm up to you and you can finish the string.

      PS. Plug-Ins like ROtUE, ROTV, or anything else that affects the UE/Voinian missions, will probably make it impossible to play for both.

      Only risk doing either of these is that you probably do not ever
      want to use an escape pod while doing the first of the two strings.

      I dont think so, because the Voinian strings cancel out the UE strings. You have to do UE first.
      I Do know for a fact, if you do the Voinian string first, you can't get the UE cruiser (debatedly strongest ship in the game).

      Oh, and the Voinian string is just so much easier playing in a UE destroyer..

      Actually I always did the Voinain string first. Then the UE string. Just get some fake papers and your fine. I still had recruitment missions for both at the beginning though.
