    • Plugin help

      Hi all,

I am having a problem with the DiD plugin. I am on an eMac and have the latest version of PoG. I have downloaded DiD and opened it using Stuffit. I have placed all of the expanded documents in the Plugins folder inside of the main PoG folder but when I start up the game it does not give me a choice to use any plugins.

I am sorry but I am not very computer literate...perhaps I am overlooking the obvious but any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Also was wondering whether I can start up DiD with a character already in progress..it would be nice not to have to start the entire game over again with a new character.

      Thanks again. 😕

Hi darebak. Welcome to the boards. There is a folder called Damsels in Distress. This folder has four things in it: a file "Data001.dat" and three folders for Movies, Music, and Sounds. Do Not take these out of the "Damsels in Distress" folder. Place the folder "Damsels in Distress" inside the Plugins folder which is inside the folder for Pillars of Garendall.

The outer folder which contained the read-me and version history does not go into the plugins folder - it can go wherever else you want. Please read the "read-me."

You can start the Damsels plugin at any time, you do not have to start a new game.
I hope this answers your problem, and do enjoy the plug-in. ~RD

      HiYa Darebak,

I don't think you'll find anyone more computer 'duh' than I am, but just follow RD' s instructions and I'm sure you'll be up and running in no time.

As for your second question, as I said before, I'm a total do-do. But I was able to complete DiD with my original (strong, healthy like bull! <g> ) character by simply placing the DiD plug-in in my plug-in's folder and then opening my most recently saved character file.

When I opened the saved file, I was prompted to check Damsels. I did and the outcome was very rewarding.

Hope you have a similar experience! (and don't forget to rate it when you're finished!)

      Hugs on ya,
      Pam

--Thanks RD. Your explanation was great and it now works. I much appreciate the quick reply. I'm sure I'll love it as much as the orig game. Thanks again.

      Pam,

Where does one go to rate plugins? Is there a website dedicated to this only? Also, was looking for info on other plugins since we are on the topic. I'd be interested in seeing how far the game can be stretched and what others are bringing to the orig game.

Thanks for the idea about rating. 🙂

    • On the (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/pog/addons")PoG addons page(/url) (where I assume you got the plugin) next to the link where you download the plugin, there is a link for you to rate the plugin.

You can download all the plugins for PoG (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/vftp/show.pl?product=pog&category;=*&display;=date&page;=1")here.(/url) This is also where you can rate any plugin you use. To prevent anyone from "stuffing the ballot box" you can only register one vote for each plugin from any one computer. If two people use the same computer, only one person will be able to record a vote. ~RD

Edit: You're faster on the URL draw than I, Thunderforge.

I type it in the Address bar often enough. So I'm used to typing it.

By the way, is it possible for Stark to remove Damsels v. 1.0? I think that people might download that instead of v. 1.1.

EDIT: I type in (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/pog/addons")http://www.ambrosias...ames/pog/addons(/url) instead of the long URL you posted, RD. Just wanted to clarify that.

I use cut & paste but I had to go to the bookmark and back to post. You just hit submit before I did.

Yes, it's possible. I could even do it myself now. There were reasons for not doing so. If version 1.0.1 is removed, so is the description of the plug-in. The download count would be lost too. (An ego thing, perhaps.) Looking at the downloads, I think most people see the newer version. The older version does work just fine as long as the player doesn't screw himself up. If both versions are removed and V 1.1.1 is submitted with a new description then we're back to zero downloads and no rating. I think it's best to leave well-enough alone.

You don't spell so well. 😛 I'm sure there are some words that, when scrambled, could change the meaning of what one says. Incidentally, I found that easier to read than AOL-speak which does not have all the right letters.

Sig now fixed to reflect that you are supposed to try to figure out what it says.

EDIT: Maybe if I edit this post, my new change will appear 🙂
EDIT 2: Okay, the new line is there, but the new italics don't. Oh well.

    • Okay, I've seen that way too many times on this webboard. One time on B&B;, and twice on Just Chat. I responded to each. Let's go search. (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum23/HTML/007472.html")Here(/url) is my latest reply, with a university's 'rebuttal' to that...

    • Hmm. Well, I suppose that I could change my signature then.

And now, I say that we end this discussion of my signature and get back to the topic. Agreed? 🙂
