I have used MAGMA in the past. You may remember me saying that I particularly liked the escorts' chatter over the radio during large battles.
It's not that the missiles look wrong; they look fine. It's that they fly wrong. Due to the limitations of the EV:O engine, which expects a ship on a bearing of 45 degrees to fire a front mounted weapon such that the fire proceeds at 45 degrees. By skewing the viewpoint to present a 3/4 view, you may improve the appearance of the ships, but you're foreshortening the 'Y' component of the screen display when you add a 'Z' element. The ship pointing at 45 degrees in a 3/4 view will naturally point at more like 55 or 60 degrees. That's okay for people who like SAE's defence pods and turrets, but it can mean the difference between life and death for those of us who use unguided rockets or front-mounted phase cannon.
So... thanks David; I enjoyed using MAGMA with one pilot, but when I wanted to go back to my favourite weapons and tactics, I unplugged it.
