    • DiD River Portals

In DiD, how do you complete the River Portals mission? I have located the 2nd piece of parchment (after e-mailing Rubber Ducky for directions), and the only mission available is to find the portals. If the portals are those that the Order of the Seasons guy (Oribas (sp.?)) activates, then I have found them. If they are not, I am totally lost.

      Please help,

      Lit Nerd

You have found the right portals. Now look around for some sign-board arrows which will point you in the right direction. Following the arrows to a logical conclusion may lead you further away from the portals than you expected. The Trolls agreed to convene at the portals but they wandered off a bit from there. Do a tiny "Lewis and Clark." 🙂 ~RD

    • I'll give it a go. Results to follow.

    • It worked. Thanks, RD.

I have another problem, however. I have rescued the first two princesses, and they are safely home. I have questioned the troll, and I have spoken to the head troll, who said the other two would be safely released for 250,000 coins. I have spoken to Harold. What do I do next? Sorry that I cannot be more specific, but I am not on my iBook right now.

By the way, is this a bug: In the retrieve fishing hat mission, I got it, completed it, gave the hat to whatever his name is, but I did not get the key before reentering the cave. When I reentered to retry the lock, without the key, I could kill the hat carrying goblin and retrieve the hat again. As a result, I currently have the hat in my inventory, even though it had been safely returned to its owner, who gave me the key even when I had a lucky fishing hat in my inventory. Is this a bug, or does the guy have multiple lucky fishing hats?

After your little chat with Ratznest concerning his upping the ante, I suggest you look around for a "friendly" troll who is waiting somewhere nearby. He wants to help you but he is afraid to come out in the open with good reason.

You may have found a minor bug (certainly not one which prevents the game from continuing) in that I made it so that if you dropped the hat before returning to Sterling or got "killed" on your way out of the cave, the goblin would get it back again. I see the problem here. You didn't have the hat in inventory, nor did you have the rusty key, so you got another hat. You can't have two hats, but I guess it's possible for you to have one and Sterling to have another.

I could make up a lame story here about how the goblin liked the hat so much that he had a fake ripoff made. In truth, it's not enough of a problem to put out a new version. I will make a change in my copy, however, so that if a new version is ever called for, there will be only one hat. In the meantime, see if the bogus hat improves your fishing skills - - I've always wondered about that, myself. 🙂 ~RD

I'll be on the look out for one, then.

    • Thanks for all your help so far, RD. I am now far enough that I need to find all the Blade bits. I found them all, except for the Handle. I know it is to be found in a swamp, west of Gidolan (sp.?) Keep, but where is to be found, more general than that, but not so general as to say 3 W of a certain place? I checked the swamp where the Evil Ring is, no luck. Before I got this quest, I had the tip, the blade, and the hilt. I have since found the pommel stone.

Actually, it's in a marshy area (very small - just some tall reeds growing near water) and not in a swamp. It's a lot closer to the Keep than you've been looking. When you find it, you could probably throw it over the wall from where you stand - but this would not be a good idea.

      I found it.

You make PoG lots of fun,
