      Hey
Can some one tell me some details about the "crew of one" challenge?
I keep hearing references to it but have never encountered it in the game.
      cheers

The 'Crew of One' challenge isn't something that is coded into the game. It's something that some advanced pilots have tried to add spice to a game that they already know backwards.

Instead of trading in your shuttle for a Transporter, Scoutship, Helian or whatever and working your way up to a warship like the CW or Igazra, you voluntarily limit yourself to using ONLY ships that you can fly on your own... those with a listed crew (shipyard stats) of 1. The idea is to complete all three central game objectives with such ships.

Most players imposed further limitations on themselves:

      • No hiring or capturing of escorts.

      • No working for the Azdgari, since the single-seater Azdara is too powerful - some players consider this their 'main ship' anyway.

      • No Monty Python (!)

      • No plugins.

      • Various players adopted other voluntary limitations. Check out a thread called 'Update on the Crew of One Challenge', about 3 months old... if you can find it.

To my mind, the most astounding C.O.O. victory was achieved by MartinNZ, who transferred from a shuttle to a Krait, and stayed in that for the remainder of the game. I also tried using a Krait, but your shields get all but wiped out by a single needle missile hit. In comparison, the shuttle is a real battlecruiser 🙂

    • I think I'll try it in an Emalgha fighter. I'll let you know what happens.

    • You know, I was thinking. We should have a group of different challenges like this. For instance, we could have the entrepenour(sp?) challenge in which you have to complete all trade related missions and you can only buy non-warships (however, this can include Helians and Couriers as they are semi-cargo ships) and you have to raise 200 million credits. Though that would get quite boring, there are other things you could do. For instance, you could do no-comp challenge. No smart weapons like turrets or guided weaponry, no scanner upgrades, etc.

      Any other ideas?

    • I can complete all three in a crescent fighter. In fact a souped up CF is very easy to do it with. I worked for the Zidagar BTW.

I play on strict play, so krait piloting is very difficult.

You may feel a revulsion for my views and a disgust for my lack of acceptance of other's ones. If you feel this, take a minute to calm down, pretend you don't hate me, then try posting.
