    • PoG Bugs: List them here

Pillars of Garendall 1.0.2 has been out for almost a whole year (it was released on 8/6/02). However in that year, there have been many bugs found and none have been fixed. Please list them here, and maybe Beenox can figure out what must be fixed. (If there have been similar topics before, then I applogize. I couldn't find out due to the lack of the search system).

EDIT: I thought about e-mailing the URL of this topic to help@ambrosiasw.com, then thought of e-mailing it to Dee (one of the moderators for this forum who works for Beenox.) Who to?

You cannot create a new save game file in Jaguar.

Strength is spelled streght in both the Tome of Elixers quest description and the choice that the spirit of nature gives you

When you've woken up the spirit of nature and talk to him again, the dialog box says that it start to talk. It should read: starts to talk

If you are playing a game with a plugin, save, then deactivate the plugin and load the file, you'll get the outlines of dialog boxes (which can sometimes go away if you press return a few times)

    • The windows version will not quit, I already emailed help@... (ie David Dunham) with a description.

I've got one more. If you check the PluginData.txt file, you will see an entry called "Shop_Dernath". However, there is no such shop in Dernath in the standard game, even after you kill the cyklops. While this is easily fixed with a plugin (I've already put one together called "DernathShop", which exposes this shop and adds a cheap inn to Dernath), it would be great if this were in the game itself.

As you may have noticed, PoG has lots of typos... Beenox was made comprehensively aware of them during the beta period, and declined to address them. I rather doubt that they'll decide to deal with them now, but even if they do, the typos are fairly well documented already.

I suspect that the same is true of most of the outstanding bugs in PoG/Coldstone... the issue is not that they are not aware of the problems, but rather that they seem not to care about them.

Which, in my opinion, is a shame that they seem to not care enough about a product they put out to consumers. It's rather shoddy workmanship. Although I still enjoy playing PoG, if it weren't for its expandability and the willingness of PoG players w/ Coldstone to make great plug-ins (who happen to care about bugs, typos and the lot) ...I'd be pretty irked about having paid for such a product.

Maybe, if we continue to post bugs here, and we all send an e-mail to Beenox pointing to this topic and asking for bug fixes to this excellent game, maybe they'll listen. We all love Pillars of Garendall and really would love to see it polished to perfection.

EDIT: Also it would probably be more convincing if we also created a petition at (url="http://"http://www.petitiononline.com/")http://www.petitiononline.com/(/url) Note that all signatures are e-mailed to you if you make it, so don't do it unless you can handle it.

Speaking for myself, I'm game. Have you started a petition there?? (Just glanced over it shortly)

As for what I've experienced, I don't know if it's a PoG thing or me. I mean, I've seen the horrendous typos and grammatical errors and am pretty tired of the game crashing when I'm in the midst of a quest, but, I don't know if it's my OS or PoG. One thing I haven't heard mentioned is the "Acid trip" one goes on sometimes in the Learning Tree. Sometimes I go in there and don't get a room, but a multiplied, ever repeating version of myself going through the "empty" room....rather disorienting. But, I've just pointed my characer northward and I get to the "books" or the "chest" etc., although sometimes I crash at this point.

I also don't know if it's my OS, PoG, or plug-ins, but I've had many a STRONG character wipe out as if they never existed, even though making saves, back ups of saves, etc. I lose the character and everything they've done in every file. Very frustrating!!

The only thing I can say about this is, if we don't try to get it fixed, we'll never know if they will, eh?

The "Acid trip" can be eliminated by alotting more memory to PoG. I used to get this frequently before I upped the memory for the game and when the memory was increased the effect went away and I have not seen it since. The crashing may be due to low memory also. When I increased my memory, the passage from one square to another also went more smoothly and took less time. This was mentioned in a thread a long time ago, but with the search feature inactive, I'd never find it for you. ~RD

    • And there's always that old bug which cripples Windows-users so that they can't use plugs which involve using certain keys.

I think Stark made a little list, but I'm not sure.

    • On the subject of petitions, I created one requesting a remake of Cythera (it's in one of the topics on the Cythera board), got 1 sig and some guy named Big Joe posted a rather troglodytan message about the fact that one can post multiple times under different names.

No, I haven't. I didn't think that my provider could handle the e-mail.
