How do I get rid of the bounty hunters which bother me pretty much everywhere I go? I think I got em when I dominated a couple planets.

I wouldn't get rid of them though. They're a great source of gas and other matterielle.

Once I took over all the United Earth and Voinian planets, along with many of the strand worlds, and about every other system I entered, there was always a bounty hunter flying a Crescent Warship waiting to trash me. Of course, he never stood a chance against my huge fleet, but it got pretty annoying.

...this means, hail the domainated planet, and select 'release from servitude'. It appears in place of 'demand tribute'.
