Sorry, I couldn't resist with this shinny, new (Well, I'm lying. It's actually old and rusty, but it has a cool button on it! πŸ˜„ ) pen.

Clicking puns (Clicking is a cool word to use in place of profanity on a webboard!) aside, I think I've discovered something! This whole board seems to devided into cliques. Wether Male, Female, newbies or veterans. Clicking Banter and brawl board, wont even look at my story... I'm sure Females have even noticed that in one mission in EVO (I don't remember which one) The discription identifies the player as a male. A little sexist there. Beside from actuall physical difference, The way we play EVO also seperates us. Renegades, Voinians and Zidagar mercanaries, not to mention traders, all seem to exclude themselves from other groups. Why can't the players of EVO unify as one cohessive unit, and fight a battle everyone with ASW does. The Annihilation of BG and his evil Microsoft Empire. Am I the only one who has these thoughts?

    • hehehe!(all right.. hehe)
Already working on it WarBeast. I love elipsis dots!!!!!

Anyway, the April fools part was the BG thing. But Click do I hate that man (Grr...) I really do see seperation between the people on this board. It feels a little weird. Can anyone verify the sexist mission for me? please?

BTW have you looked at my signature lately?

    • Ok, I think I've figured out whatever you just said.

I don't really think there is a sexist gap here on the boards, far from it in fact. But I think ambrosia software focused a little bit more on a men's point of view because of market research or just the plain fact that men like computer games a decent deal more than women do!

(Hope I'm not being too sexist on this)

      ------------------
If you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. If you don't give a man a fish, you'll have something for dinner...

    • No that was not sexist; and to a certain extent is probably correct. However, I still think some of the females are distanced,Since so few are on the board, and newbies to the board are scoffed at, basically because they ask questions that were just asked. The need to have some type of search thing for the topics.

      Remember,

    • The boards aren't inherently sexist, and neither are the people on them. It's just that the vast majority of people who enjoy flying around in a spaceship shooting goons are males, and the writers of the game couldn't help putting a little bias into it, just from the nature of the game. Also, are you sure there is a mission that refers to the character as a male? I'd like to see it if there is

As for the "scoffing at newbies", that's mostly a myth. Most (reasonable!) people try not to make fun of newbies; after all, it's likely they don't know the question's a repeat, and everyone's been a newbie. πŸ™‚ We try to be nice to the newbies; otherwise, how come 75% of the people frequenting this board joined after January? πŸ˜‰

Regarding the search feature They used to have it, until, because of problems with the Ambrosia server and its excessive load, it had to be removed. We miss it too, and I think and hope it'll come back soon. Until it's reinstituted, that's another reason for most people not to scorn newbies who ask repeat questions. πŸ™‚

    • Heh heh heh, newbie fights... lol...

    • Regarding newbies, nearly everyone who posts is usually a newbie to some degree. It just doesn't take long to get the hang of it. But i guarantee that if you don't come back to this webboard for a month or so, there's going to be a lot of new faces. Don't look down on the newbies. A couple of weeks later and they'll be saying the bulk of the useful stuff, anyways.

      200 posts?
      500 posts?
      1000 posts?
      2000 posts?

The term newbie is relative. Think about it! AndrewWelch could probably call anyone a newbie!

when i started i was posting everywhere i could to get my posts # up. I reached 180 in three days. I made the main mistake. Its not the Quantity of posts! its the Quality of the posts!

If you posted on the old board and have been regular since, then you are no longer a newbie πŸ˜‰

Si. I think date registered is a better criterion, if there should be one at all. Anyone can rack up posts as fast as they want if they just post crap.

    • I never said I wasn't a newbie on the board Mikee. However, that doesn't mean that I am a newbie at override. I have been playing EVO for close to three years now, so I am as much of a veteran at the game as probably anyone else here.
While I don't believe that this sort of singling out was intended, it has sure taken a hold in this webboard, and probably a lot of others. Of course the people are not sexist, but there still appears to me to be a lot of seperation here.
On to the actuall game, I can't agree with you more, Shayborg. The characters, save the Free Huroner, Imir, and her contact from Blaga, There appear to be no females. Does that mean that in the EVO universe, 150 years into the future, that our society will have regressed to the antediluvuan days of discrimination and Sexism? I don't think that would happen, but it looks like PC is hinting in that direction. To the sexist mission, I don't have enough time to go through all the mission resources, but I'm sure it is a UE mission, probably involving Admiral Mcpherson. A group of people are talking about the player, and someone says "Just the MAN I was looking for. I think I'll change my mission so that it says person instead.
The Igadzra appear to be the epitome of Discrimination in the EVO Universe. So paranoid they refuse to talk to anyone, and women are absent from everything their involved in. The other strands aren't much better. Not a single female pilot exists in their forces. As large as they are, not exactly the most political option chosen.
Discrimination is a large problem in our world today. Will this carry on into the future. Only time can tell.

Did you ever think that strands might not have a 50/50 ratio? Maybe women are less intelligent and are only used to make more strands.

You know, like how we should treat them here on Earth πŸ˜ƒ

Hehe. Good point. Anna is one of the most important characters in the EVO storyline and she's female. Also, has anyone taken time to remember Hellcat Helen, one of the imfamous Captains of Freeport?
