Let's have a little fun with imagination for a minute.

Let's say the EVO universe was real, and we were living in it. What type of space pilot would you be? Now I know not every person here would be that amazing mercenary that changes the face of the universe. I also know that not all people are going to be the stupid wimpy trader. I also know some people aren't even going to BUY a ship. I also know some people aren't going to be the amazing renowned fighter pilot. I also doubt any of you would be a Renegade. What WOULD you be?

I, would certainly not be who I am in the game: The amazing fighter pilot that took out the dreadnought in a CF, and is able to out-manoever every ship aside from the Azdara, and works by himself. No sir. I would probably settle with a Freight-Courier working for Frontier Express. It's a good ship that can defend itself well, it's good money, and it's rewarding morally as well. It's also a good oppurtunity to HELP in battles, as well as see them.

So what would you guys become?

Hmm. Good point, Carn. With an auto-eject and an escape pod, you're basically immortal. So, I suppose you could be as daring as you'd like...and if you run out of credits the shipyard's always looking for new workers...

I'd probably become amazingly wealthy in the fuzz trade, live like a King, and own a Mercedes M-25 luxury cruise shuttle.

Or maybe I'd join the Zachit and become a cultural icon. People would shower me with gifts, praise, and admiration.

Or I'd design a Fighter for the Igadzra and sell the design to them for fifty million credits. Then I'd live on Kirrim Prime and become a ski resort tycoon.

Either that, or I'd be a shipyard worker.

That's one unrealistic thing about EVO. If EVO were real, I'd start with nice, simple commodity runs and cargo runs, until I could buy a freight courier. Then I'd make a couple million doing commerce raiding in the Dogover system. (kill the voinian supply ship and take the cargo) before settling down to somewhere like Saalia (brandy heaven). However, with some of my money I'd buy a scoutship and equip it with a couple fuel tanks and scoops, hire a crew, and send it to explore. If it found any aliens, I'd go exploring their worlds.

Actually, if EVO were really real, I'd buy a freighter and make a killing off of the Centauri/Earth trade, then retire. I mean, loving danger and exploration is one thing, but I'm all for a huge resort house without any risk, you know what I mean?

I wouldn't get within 2 jumps of anyone who might potentially want to shoot at me. I'd probably stick to UE core worlds, and maybe hang with the Miranu once they were discovered to be friendly. I might not even become a pilot, maybe I'd move to New Taranto and become Anna Balashova's protegé.

If EVO were real, we would be normal people living average lives entirely in human space. We would probably live our entire lives without seeing a Miranu, Zidagar, or whatever in person. We would probably never even leave our homeworld.

I would fly in an Igazra and fly around on the outskirts of UE space and scare all the smaller ships by being... you know.... big... scary... quiet... and large-yellow-penis-like.

Truthfully, I would want to be a UE mercenary captain flying in an alien vessel. The alien vessel would add a sense of mystery and desire to me :)... maybe a Lazira or... an Aggy Arada or something to that extent.

Well... OF, you never know. What if you were actually in the situation of Stud Beefpile (not the ASW guy; the guy in the game), starting out with 10K credits and a shuttle. What would you work your way up to?

I would be a Zidagar and live my life as a drama queen. I don't think I would take to space at all.

In Jerry Pournelle novels, there was an organization called the BuRelock (Bureau of Relocation), its job was to get people (usually unwilling people) off of Earth and on to the colony worlds. In EVO, the UE has a similar organization, although I forgot the name of it. I do recall transporting colonists, however, in a mission, so it is likely that many people would become colonists.

I would have two choices after graduating from the space academy: I would probably persue a career with the United Earth government, doing my best to earn ranks with the military. If anything, I would love to become a UE fighter commander or a UE Destroyer captain. Secondly, if the United Earth government ever did become corrupt, I would take a liking for the Voinians, who have just as much of a reason to fight as the UE. I wouldn't want to get stuck flying a Voinian fighter or interceptor, but rather a frigate fleet or my own Voinian cruiser. Whichever cause I joined, I would do my best to finish the job.

Well now, I'm just day dreaming here. I guess I'll just be what I've been for years: A mercenary pilot who will fight for anyone who will pay him. I'd either get me a reliable Arada for safe cargo delieveries, or a Freight Courier.

I would ply the trade routes for a while and save up credits. I'd then buy a Freight-Courier and upgrade it big time. I'd fly down to Gribn or Thehir and start killing off renegades. I'd eventually work my way up to being the planets ruler by democratic means. And of course some well spent money.
