    • Lots of swordsmen????


      Uhm, no. I was using my ranger, (Equiped with the best ranger technology and lots of herbs), and decided to make myself a minotaur potion. Lets see, I press "V". Hmmm, "As a swordsman, you have no special abilities". Well, I am not a swordsman, so I should. I decide to take out my bow to prove that I am not a swordsman, so I use it, and suddenly my character is a swordsman with a bow. So now, I am panicking, though thank the lord I always back-up my files.
      Well, now I decide "forget it, i'm moving on", so I go to my conjuror to find the SoL, when I step into the area around Gidolan Keep. "Uh-oh, I better use Wizard of War if I plan to survive". Wrong. Apparently my conjuror is already a swordsman, because once again, "As a swordsman", I have no special abilities. Alright, time to really prove them wrong. I use the book of conjuror to show it that I am obviously a conjuror, but no, it stills says i'm a swordsman, and now I even look like one. COME ON NOW! I don't want ALL of my guys being swordsmen!
      The plug-ins I am running are: Gold, AM, Filter, The Mushroom Lady, Spells Expander, Banker, and 7 of my own that I havent released, which I have used over the last year without this problem, so it is not those either.
      I am using an eMac 700mhz OS 9.2.2. Now may I please ask what on earth is going on, (or did all of my characters realize that special abilities suck, and that being able to wield 2-handed swords attracts the women)

      Wizard of War does indeed change your character to a swordsman, but only for a little while. When the spell wears off you are a conjurer again, albeit, a naked and defenseless one. 🙂 ~RD

      Find those areas you missed the first time around. You'll want to explore those hidden areas now made accessible with Spells Expander.

      The latest version of The Mushroom Lady had a small bug which does this. A fixed version has been created but I'm not sure if the one currently listed on the addons page is the most recent version or not...

      I've sent you mail on how to build a plug-in to correct this. I have one at home, and I had Rubber Ducky build one when he encountered this problem as well. If someone wants to upload a fixer plug (just name it class fixer or something) and have it take a look at &&Job; (should be "swordsman" "conjurer" or "ranger") and depending on that value, have it set &&gb;_pg_PlayerClass to 0, 2, or 1 respectively. That should do the trick for any class having a problem with their class being reset.

    • Yeah, I didn't know you had to delete the gb_pg_PlayerClass global before building the plug-in... newbie mistake.

      I see what happened with posting it: I tried to post the current version, but I get an error message about "a plugin by that name is already available."

      I emailed Stark to see if he could fix it....

    • Yea he told me it had to do with your mushroom plug-in. He also told me how to make a plug-in to fix it, though I have to renew my Coldstone license before I can.

      Bummer.

      So I am just hoping someone will release it before then, because it will probably be a long wait.

      Now that I'm at home and have access to my files...

This will correct any type of class change problems, or bad icon problems, etc. Grab it and read the readme file. Should be self-explanatory.

      I'll post a new thread about this as well.

      Axe: I'd fix your plug-in for you to make it available for download, but I don't have access at the moment. cough

      Hold the thanks until after you download the plug-in and make sure that it works. It should; I pounded on it for about an hour doing different combinations to make sure it should work. But, just in case...

      Give it a try, it is a whopping 6k download. Let me know if it fixes things or not for you.

      Incidentally, I was just about to e-mail you. But, since you're obviously online, no need now. 😉

    • I wrote that after I used it, so I do thank you anyway. It saved both my conjuror and my ranger. Definetially a big help on both. Also restored their looks and all of their abilities.

      I might upload the source code just for grins. You'll be surprised at how short and simple it is(it uses 2 events to sort out the PlayerClass global and change it, then to check for the animation to use). The wonders of ripping events from other plug-ins (in this case Trinity). Or rather, not ripping events, but calling events in Trinity to fire off. heh.

      Alright, I'll upload it. It will probably be tomorrow as I want to write up a brief synopsis for what I did(it is actually kind of tricky, in a simple sort of way, heh) so that others can use the methodology in other plug-ins, as opposed to just uploading the code and letting people "figure it out."
