    • I commit Renegade genocide on a regular basis, but I do engage in a little piracy every now and then, usually for fuel. If there's a lone trader in my area, and I don't have enough fuel to jump, he goes down. I swipe any fuel I find, then credits. And if it's a decent ship, I'll try to capture it, even if the odds are bad, just for the hell of it. An well-armed, free escort is always nice. One of my pilots currently has an armada of Crescent Warships at his disposal. They're all captured bounty hunters, as bounty hunters seem to have it in for me; I don't know why. Maybe it's because I somehow got a bad record in a few Strandless and Independent systems.

The last time I was on this board, the price of dumb questions was really high.

    • Arrr, matey!
A lone trader is an easy target! That's how I make my money... Forget trading!
First I arm my shuttle with another blaze cannon and just bored and bored untilI have the money I want!
Trading? PAH! Buying fuel? PAH! Buying ammunition? PAH
Why waste money when it's right in from of your feet for free?

      Arrrrrrr, matey!!!!

    • I'm a peaceful trader (in a souped up Arada), but even I've started destroying the renegade pirates. They are quite a nuisance and attack anything that moves, it seems. So, although I used to be a true pacifist in EVO, now I shoot back at the renegades. Which is as it should be: traders triumph over pirates!

    • Hm, not always!
      Think about it this way:
A fleet of pirates attacking a fleet of traders:
The traders flee and the pirates blast them from behind and kill em'!

      Arrrrrrr, matey!!!!

    • Pirates are to merchants what mosquitos are to us.

They can be a nuisance, but if you just can be bothered killing them.......

    • The pirates / renegades are necessary though, just as mosquitoes supposedly are! They keep the UE from having too much power - they say it corrupts :). And they offer illegal items - which someone has to do. I wonder if, without them, the UE would have been able to expand further to the southeast and encounter some of the crescent - or worse, got there first and denied the crescent! Also it would make it too easy for the UE to keep peace in their systems and they would easily be able to beat the Voinians without the help of the player. Everything is there for a reason :).

    • WAH!
I like pirates more than those wussy traders. Without pirates, the game would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO boring!

    • That's true... but siding with them is pretty boring - gaining free access to 3 spaceports at most! If the renegades / pirates actually had a little bit of an organisation beyond that it would be far more interesting - but I guess they wouldn't be pirates then really :). In terms of the game, the human renegades would be a lot better off if you could sell the krait fighter bay off the turncoat - and put something vaguely useful there instead!
