    • Capture Percentages

Is there some way to boost the capture percentages on disabled ships?

    • In "Escape Velocity," my favorite thing to do was go into ResEdit, edit the ship I was currently flying, and set it to have a crew of 30,000 or so. That way, you could even easilly capture a Confederation Cruiser. 🙂 I haven't tried doing this in Override...

    • Thanks, but i mean something like a tractor beam, does that help? are you implying that crew size matters?

    • Capture odds are calculated taking your crew size and shield strength (mostly crew size, though) into account. Therefore, the larger your crew, the better their chances of overpowering the crew of a disabled ship and capturing it for you.

In EVO 1.0.2, there is an outfit called "Marine Gear" that will boost your crew compliment and raise capture odds. Unfortunately, I don't hink it's sold anywhere in the universe. The only way to get it is (I believe) the Admiral D'Erlon mission to capture the voinian station. Or you could always go in with resedit and make it avilable at some spaceport, perhaps Freeport or North Tip Station...

A hatch opened up and the aliens said,
"We're sorry to learn that you soon will be dead,
But though you may find this slightly macabre,
We prefer your extinction to the loss of our job."

So that's what marine gear does...I've seen it before, but I never found out what it really did. I guess that's what I get for not having that thing called "common sense..." 😉

    • Where do you see the crew size? Without ResEdit I mean.

If you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. If you don't give a man a fish, you'll have something for dinner.

    • when you're buying a ship, or hiring an escort of that kind, look in info

    • Where does the "Marine Gear" mission start, or better yet, where does the mission string start?

Yes, when you look under info, on the right hand side at the bottom of the info, you'll see "crew size."

    • The_virus - Gotta be with UE, it's in the Hinwar missions. Nope, I'm not telling how you get it. 😛

      - Captain Stud Beefpile
      - UE Naval 238th Squadron
      - Azdgari Squadron "Firebird" Leader
      - Member of the Zacha Renegade Elimination Corporation

    • hey Beefpile, if you won't tell him will you tell me? 😉

    • On one of the Voinian worlds (somewhere in ther nort, I think near Svass), you will be contacted by some freedom fighters. Do a few things for them, and then it says something like,"You wan't to help the Hinwar, but first you need to find some help. So you go to the UE Outpost that is he southernmost (Outpost Gamma, I think. It's in the Yandros system.) and D'Erlon offers you his forces' aid after you tell him about your problem. That's where the string starts. Oh, yeah, and I think you need to have done the Emalgha string (the one where they form an alliance with the UE) before all of this.
      There. I think that's all correct. 😛
