    • Question about early Merchant, Trader.

OK, let me give you guys a brief background of where I am, then I'll give you my question.

What i have learned to be the most common way to make money in the begging is to run a few Deliverys, that type of stuff, just so you can get into a average ship. Well, I knew where i wanted to go, to the outer fringes, The Miruni, Izagar, those people. They have the ships, and in previous experinces playing EV:O, I had never really tried to hard out there on trading routes. Of course, there are two simple reasons for this : Renegas and far out planets. But that is what I wanted to do, so i set my eyes on a scoutship. I did some missions, and then I did the traderoute from Atlantic station to New Cattacla. That is one of the best, but I messed up once with my escorts(Ya know, when ya buy to many and ya cant buy the cargo) so i absicly had to start with 40k Credits. Anywho, I did that till i got about 200k Credits, then I bought a Scoutship and 2 munevering fuel things. This way i could explore without fuel worries. So i only had about 30,000, and i quickly learned it really wasn't enough. Despite the far out places between planets, the trade routes were very good, with alot of HIgh-lows everywhere. But after a few mouths i returned home and made some money, brooke a volian blockade, and I'm trying to do Paleen Station.

I can now purchuse a UE. Fighter. That would help with renegadas out in the fringe. But what about fuel and Cargo? Escorts out there are very expensive, and Because of the long distances between trade routes, they can lose money fast. I was thinking about shuttle craft, cause they are cheap and hold 20 cargo space. But i need advise on which ship i should purhcase in this situation.

      Thanks

    • As for the ship to buy, definately go for the shuttlecraft. The UE fighter is an excellent weapon, good firepower and all, but it has almost no cargo space worth mentioning. As for the shuttlecraft, when fitted with three blaze guns, can rid three kraits at once and stay alive. If you use a combination of the Monty Python, afterburner, and blaze guns, getting through renegade space shouldn't be much of a problem. I even captured a Turncoat once in my little shuttlecraft!

    • He's asking about hiring shuttlecraft, Skyblade, not buying one. At 100cr per day for twenty tons of cargo, that's just 15cr to get (for example) a ton of fertiliser to Alpha, for a profit of, uh... (it's a long time since I worked as a peaceful trader) ...what? About 140 credits?

Few ships beat the shutlecraft in wages per ton hauled. The only reasons to hire larger ships are:

      • because you've run up against the maximum 6-ship limit and want your escorts to haul more than 120 tons of cargo

      • because you want something with lotsa guns to fight for you

    • What you want is to get a couple hundred thousand credits and hire six frieghter escorts. They trade between Thehir and Grybn in the Hatuli system. There is light renegade interference but if you have a decent ship,(like a Frieght Courier) you can easily make it.

Yes, trading between those systems is very profitable. However, when you can afford it, getting freight couriers as well as your own ship being one will be much safer, because every now and then, a Turncoat shows up and wishes to destroy your fleet one by one. By then, the Freight Courier's blaze fire and hunter missiles will have an answer to renegade threats.

    • Go for the above option but have a fast ship for yourself, your are gonna have enough cargo space anyway. Buy an afterburner. Then just fly to the other planet, land, sell, buy then repeat. You won't have to worry about the freighters b/c the renegs will attack you instead of them, and you don't have to wait for them to get to the planet before land. easy

Some would call it cheating... but its easy money

    • I did the Thehir to Gribn route in a maxed out Helian and it was much more cost efficient then a Freight Courier, I had frieghters as my escorts and earned a ton(or should I say many tons) of credits.
