    • Hardest Mission Poll

Having looked at, and voted in some of the polls around here, I decided to make my own. The Hardest Mission Poll. The question is: What is the Hardest Mission?

I vote for the last mission in the string of the Miranu Gunship. Please vote!

The hardest mission I have tried is either the Zachit mission where you have to kill all the renegades by the rock or the last Dreadnought mission. But tehn again, I don't think I'm that far ahead in the game, anyways.

      Geek out.

    • Though I have never tried the Zachit Missions, I think the UE Mission to liberate the Hinwar is pretty hard. The D'Erlon Marine mission, where you have to destroy all the Voinians in the system, and then land. I always found that pretty hard, as you have NO support, and you can't land OR leave the system, otherwise the mission won't work.

    • The mission that took the most tries for me was the last Zachit mission. You have to kill two fleets and the Igadzra fleet massacres the other fleet and hypers out. So you have to kill them both before the other one leaves, geh.

FLOBBLEDEEFEE, that's what we said when we were mad or frustrated, we said it because we were idiots. A bunch of inbred, illiterate, cro-magnons, blowin' our noses on crusty handkerchiefs, waiting in line for our heads to burst into flames. That's the way it was, and we liked it!

    • The hardest mission that i played was the one where the miranu scientist bribe the renegades not to interfere and your have to goto Mavs and drive off all 6 or something CW not to mention their CF's that come at you all at once.

      240sx Here, Wanna Run?!?!

    • I agree that the Mavs business in the nebula penetration missions is a bitch, in 1.0.2 where the enemy fighters all use full afterburner.

The one that had me reloading the most, though, was the Azdgari mission where you have to escort a group of cadets in Azdaras around the northern rim. There's no fuel to be had, every system seems to be full of hostiles, and your charges arrive in system first and always head straight into combat. As soon as a single one of them is killed, the mission has failed... It's harder than tungsten carbide. It's harder than dwarf bread. It's harder than an A-level maths paper in Cantonese. We are talking H.A.R.D. Or maybe my gunnery skills just suck. 😄

I got this .sig file at insanely_great.com - don't even think about taunting me!

    • The Azdara has the same amount of fuel as the Arada correct? I did this mission in an Arada, with two extra fuel tanks, and had no problem. I was able to make the long stretches of empty void with one or two jumps of fuel still availible. If you are using an Azdara, get two extra fuel tanks, and a scoop JUST INCASE, and then just keep jumping and jumping, and then refeul and jump and so on. Don't bother to fight ANYONE. If pirates are bugging you when you take off, jump quickly! 🙂

    • Some of those crescent renegade missions can be a pain, but my vote has to go for the final mission in the needle launcher sequence, where you must destroy the human renegade fleet in the pariah system pretty much single-handedly. As soon as you jump in, around ten turncoats all launch their kraits and start firing off their needle missles. It's made even harder if you bought a new ship in the middle of the string and lost your needle launcher. Ouch. That's a tough first five minutes.

      ------------------

    • Hehe yep that one is nice and tough.. a nice afterburning run-away is called for, but as long as you've got phase turrets and a reasonable ship the kraits cause little problem when you're running away, and then the turncoats can't hit you with their blaze turrets when you get back for them. It is a lot of kraits though - just a shame they're poorer than a shuttle :frown:.

      ------------------

    • Well, it's been a while since Ford's played through much of the EVO plugs, but the hardest mission that Ford can think of has to be the Chimaera mission in Femme Fatale...dang, that one's tough 😛

RotV II has some really difficult ones as well..

      ------------------

    • how do you pass the Azdgari escort cadets misson? where do you have to go?

If you look long enough the Sun isn't that bright.

    • I have to agree with wes--doing that final needle mission with a scoutship (because you dont want to do the missions without a jammer) is tough. Only way I did it was to land on the planet, then afterburn quickly after taking off--by then, my escorts were in the system and could do the job. The worst part was that your escorts came in just a second after you, so even though they'd engage the turncoats, you had a boatload of kraits zipping after you. I hope Nova fixes this (maybe letting Fighter carrying AI's give their fighters new orders once a different enemy attacks their ship.)

The Zachit mission which is essentially the same, but with CW's instead of Turncoats, seemed easier to me--maybe because by then, I had a cloaking device to hide from the swarm of CF's.

If I write a letter to be put in a time capsule to be opened when time travel is possible, and if in my letter I ask for some item to be sent back in time to the point I sealed my time capsule, wouldn't that item appear just as I seal the capsule? Just a thought...

    • Well, the Voinian Dreadnaught mission is rather hard, as is the NPD mission where you have to destroy this big Renegade fleet. Of course, they get even harder the weaker the ship you are in.

    • The hardest mission in the game would have to be the Azdgari recruitment mission where you need to go from South Tip Station to Outpost Rai in a short period of time, while retreiving Iathan's cargo from his downed Arada. I had to downgrade to an Arada from my Crescent Warship, losing more than a fistfull of credits in the process. Then I had to make the perilous journey across southern space, pursued by Renegades at each turn. You couldn't refuel, as even stopping once would mean failure to reach Outpost Rai in time. Even picking up the cargo took me a couple tries, with Renegades blowing up the derelict Arada before I could dock with it. I had to let my scoops feed my engines almost the whole way. It was quite the challenge.

      Meet me in the bar.

    • These polls are getting out of hand! Oh well...

Hardest missions are the Dreadnaught Attack (Like Carnotaur said) and the UE assault on the Renegade system of Pariah. (There are about 1,000,000 kraits there. 😃 You have to have a fast ship like the Arada and do the Monty Python to beat it)

      UE Dreadnought Mission: 3
      Last Needle Jammer Mission: 3
      Adzgari Recruit Mission: 1
      Adzgari Escort Mission: 2
      Last Zachit Mission: 1

You have to take the cadets to Garit, which is on Raigar -- look at the very top of the map. I'm stuck on this one as well. Every time I try it, one of the cadets gets blown away and the mission has failed. Anyone have any ideas?

    • My vote goes to the Admiral D'erlon "marine invasion" mission. Taking on those Voinian ships single handed is a real pain; you either have to have escorts that can overpower them by brute force, outfit your ship for close combat and take a lot of time to recharge, or use the Monty Python.

I would vote for the last Zachit mission, but I had several Zacha ships there to help me out the one time I tried that one, and they pretty much took care of the Crescent Warships while I dealt with the fighters (their phase cannons were no match for my dospect armor! Ha ha ha!!!)

Ahhh yes, now I remember that mission. Of course, when I did it, I was in an Igazra with tons of blaze turrets and extra shielding, as well as a fleet of a Voinian Cruiser, two CWs, and three Igazras. I actually did that mission with little trouble.

    • About the Azdgari cadet escorting: try doing it in a miranu courier - then you never have to refuel on that route and just keep jumping as soon as you enter each system - you should get out just before any of your squadron die. Also as they are your escorts I think you can tell them to hold position rather than go get themselves killed! Also landing along the way helps in any other ships, so long as you haven't been told you failed :).
