Has anyone ever captured a Voinian Dreadnaught before? What ship did you use? I know you would need a ship with a huge crew, but I want to know how huge. What ship should I use to capture it? Please respond!

Well, my geuss would be that the best ship to capture it with would probably be a Voinian Cruiser. Of course, even then it would be hard...

Any ideas about non-Voinian ships? What about one of the strand ships?

You can just forget about capturing the Voinian dreadnaught using any crescent ship, they all have too small crews. The UE Cruiser may work though, but the Voinian cruiser would be best.

Do the crew members of your escorts count when you try to capture a ship? I don't know but you might want to see if it helps or not. The UE cruiser is the best ship for capturing a Dreadnought because the ability to capture is based on crew number and shields.
The crew of escort ships does not count when capture odds are calculated. Just those in your own vessel, and the condition of your vessel. By the time you've fought the dreadnought to a standstill, your shields may already be more than a litte ropey, though.
I've never even tried to capture the dreadnought. If I wanted to, I'd probably use that plug that makes UE cruisers and dreadnoughts slug it out, all along the frontier. Quitting a special mission just to get a 1% chance of a capture is too much to ask! Some people have done it, though, undoubtedly.

I could of sworn escorts' crews counted if they were large warships. It says so in the EV and EVO documentation. Nor have I ever heard that the state of one's shield has anything to do with the capture odds.
Regarding the dreadnought, I just don't see why anyone would want the blessed thing. It's got to be the slowest ship in the game. If it weren't for its fighters, a shuttlecraft could take it out. It would make an awesome escort, though.

You don't know what you are talking about wes. The Dreadnaught is just about the best ship in the game. It has the same shields as a UE Crusier, and it has around 1500 armor. It also has huge amounts of cargo and weapons expansion space. Even if it is a little slow, it can still take anything you dish out.
------------------
The dreadnought has more space than you know what to do with. If you want it, you can put it on. Also, once you give it all the speed upgrades (including Azdgari upgrade) it is definately something you can live with. Easily the best ship in the game. Just imagine phase weapons try to get through 1500 armor plus bronev and dospect plating. Only downside is that its fighters are almost usless. I dont bother to replenish them unless I happen to land on a planet that sells them.

The UE Cruiser and use 1 or 2 UE Destoyer's as escorts (Just in case). You can also use a Voinian Cruiser. You could, heavely upgrade a Iggie Cruiser (Or is it called a Warship).

Its called an Igazra. And using on would not be a good idea for capturing the dreadnought. Its low amount of crew will not give you good capture odds.

That is very true the odds are outnumbered to steal it.

not good odds but I've gotten 12% with a Voinian crusier.

Get some escorts, maybe 4 or 5 of something big and powerful (Voinian Frigate's or UE Destroyer's. You could get some of each if you want to).

Hey Ambassador, where can I get that plug?? Sounds great to watch the best ships in the game duke it out!! The UE Cruiser vs. the Dreadnaught... ooooooo...

Just not my style, I suppose. I have a need for speed. Even with upgrades, I wouldn't be able to take it. You don't really need that much power. With a little finesse you can get the job done without excessive force, and in a much faster ship.
------------------
I think the best bet is to cheat and get another Dreadnaught. And maybe have some escorts to help you. But if you cheated you wouldn't have capture it. You could buy it free with the cheat so there's realy no point.
