It's kind of like the Zidara's beam weapon, but a different colour (if I remember rightly). Only way I ever got one was to disable, board and 'use as my own ship', a warship.

Of course, you can always cheat.(I wonder why no one takes this seriously. I mean, any intelligent being can turn it into a profitable business).

    • Ah, yes. The Igadzra Beamer. That green turreted beam. I almost got it once. The I.S.S. Double Agent. It had one of those weapons. Annoying weapon. Makes a weird sound. If you find the I.S.S. Double Agent, disable it, capture it, and use it as your own ship. There, you have the beam. Happy Hunting!

No, you only loose it if you go to the outift area. If you just land and go to the bar, mission computer, commodity exchange, or shipyard, you don't loose it.

    • Wondering... is the same true of the Disco Machine Gun? I thought his ship converted to a stock Emalgha freighter as soon as you boarded it.

      ------------------
I got this .sig file at insanely_great.com - don't even think about taunting me!

    • I thought that the disco machine gun worked as long as you didn't land. But it would make sense if the two followed the same pattern. However, the rest of the ship reverts to a normal freighter as soon as you board it (I think).

Also, the is plug that lets you buy the beam once you've completed the Igadzra missions.

    • I once captured one of those named igazras while fighting for the zidagar. Instead of using as my own ship, I assigned it to escorts. As escorts never upgrade their ships, he kept the beam. That ship took enemies out fast, and that route sounds a lot better than never being able to purchase upgrades.

      Nice! Gotta try that once.

    • Sometimes they lose them. I had an escort Arada with all kinds of nice weapons: neutron cannons, plasma siphon, etc.
the next time I played (after quitting) the weapons were gone.

      ------------------
Is the answer to this question 'no'?

    • Another way to get the Igadzra beam is to do the Zidagar missions up until the point where you have to battle the prototype Igazras face-to-face. Don't finish the mission, but rather make sure the battle ends so there's a prototype Igazra or two left standing. Disable one, capture it with a ship with plenty of crew (UE or Voinian Cruiser ideally, depending on which side of the conflict you took), and you've got your beam weapon. If you're lucky, when you abort the mission you'll still have high status with the Zidagar, enabling you to do the mission over the "right" way.

Unfortunately, there is the shortcoming that the Igadzra beam will eventually vanish since there's no outfit resource for the weapon. Even if avoiding the outfitters allows you to keep it, having to never enter the outfitters again can be a rather annoying trade-off. Personally, what I'd do is not capture the prototype Igadzra as my personal ship, but instead make it my escort. That way I have a ship with the beam fighting on my side at all times....the escort will NEVER lose its weapons and become useless to you. The same rule applies to the Voinian Dreadnought, or any other ship that's mission-related but not normally available for that matter.

P.S. Do not try to get the Disco Machine Gun this way. The Disco Gun is on a person ship, which is merely an insanely-modified version of a standard ship. If you disable a person ship and capture it, all you get is the stock version. Capturing Andrew Welsh will not give you a Freighter with neutron turrets, and capturing the Disco Bison (good luck) will do nothing more than give you a mere Emalgha Warship.

I dont understand why all think the DB is so hard. It´s turret´s can only fire to the front. Any decent pilot in an arada or something similar could beat it easily

    • killing the disco bison isn't hard in a fighter it just takes way to much time. But thats generally true for trying to do anything in a fighter. I could probably take on cresent station in a azdgari enhanced Arada but I definatly dont have that much time on my hands.
