    • Zidara Beams


      I really like the stats of the Zidara but I hate those beams(they use up tooooo much fuel) so when I bought my shiny new Zidara my first reaction was to dump the beams but the beams are stuck so I can only have 2 phase turrets which makes the ship terrible, what do other peoiple with Zidaras do.

      I hate the Zidara. Too weak for my tastes, but a good intermediate vessel if you can't buy a CW. However, you must also consider the Arada, which has 80 tons of free cargo space, good shields, excellent maneuverability, and can also hold 2 phase turrets.

    • If you see an Idgzra (spelling) with a green phased beam, try to capture it. It'll be hard to do, but that phased beam it turreted AND USES NO FUEL! It's pretty cool. Wish I had it. ๐Ÿ˜„

      There's no รถutf resource for that beam, so when you capture one of those special Igazras, you'll lose the beam as soon as you land on a planet. :frown:

      And my personal opinion about the Zidara is that it's an ultimately cool thang (and also the best-looking ship of the whole game) ๐Ÿ†’. Unfortunately, several continuity flaws in the game really ruin its value for the player. These are:

      (1) The pitiful lack of gun slots.
      The Zidara shipyard description states: "These ships usually concentrate on massed forward-firing weapons, using their almost fighter-like manoeuvrability to get the drop on opponents." However, the ship stats provide only 3/3 gun/turret slots! That's ridiculous. The Zidara's basic armament already surpasses these limitations (two turrets AND two guns).

      (2) The unsellable fighter bay.
      For a human player, fighter bays suck in general. You can't keep the fighters from being killed if you put them into use, and they cost a fortune to replace. (This also pertains to Azdaras.) The Zidara already has little expansion space to begin with, so the ability to sell the bay is crucial.

      As the signature ship of the Zidagar, I believe the Zidara should be able to offer a comparable amount of attractiveness to the player as the Azdara and the Igazra. Therefore, I'm going to implement the following changes in my Advance plug-in:

      (1) Raise the gun/turret slot number to 5/3.
      (2) Make the Zidara fighter bay available for sale.
      (3) Raise the cargo capacity from 15 to 25. Still a far cry from the original 40 tons, but at least this allows a Zidara pilot to accept those standard cargo missions. The Zidara is, after all, the Zidagar's favorite trading ship.

      These changes will not disbalance the game, since they don't influence the behavior of AI ships, and since I don't expect the corrected Zidara to outperform other top-level ships such as the Igazra, the Azdara or the UE Cruiser.

      Due to its increased value, I'm also going to raise the price tag to seven million.

    • It would also be neat if you increased the amount of guns on the Igazra and the UE Cruiser to 7. That way you could have 5 turrets but also 2 Zid. beams. I mean they are secondary weapons, why should they take up primary spots. Or, make the the Zid. beams not take up a gun slot. There still needs to be a limit of 2 but that would be nice.

    • Why would you wand Ziggy beams? They drain fuel like a BEEEEYOTCH.
      I much prefer the Siphon as a fuel-draining weapon.... it has many more uses....

    • It is possible to remove the beams. I remember the first time I captured a Zidara, I thought, "ugh, those beams are awful...and 40 tons of space!" Thus, I decided to work for the Zidagar.

      Once you've gotten into/completed the Zidagar mission line, the beamers will be available to buy in the outfitters - and sell.

      If you don't want to work for the Zidagar, you're out of luck.

    • Hmmm, I forgot whether or not you can sell the beams once you have them.. but I don't think you can... and if you want to get rid of that accursed bay, get EVO fixer plug.

    • No, you can't sell the beams. That's the point. That's why the Zidara sucks. If you were able to sell them, you're using a plug....
