So, here's an all new spanking poll.... what do you prefer, heavily armored ships that dish out and take in a heavy beating, or little quick ships that pack a tiny punch then zip away? Or, maybe, you fall in between the two?

Personally, I can't stand being in an Azdara. Sure, you can make it damn near invincible with the exp & normal S.G's, but that leaves you with like 2 guns to add on to the ship. (only 1 neutron turret fits tho, after upgrades are added). This drives me insane. No good secondaries to add, no powerful turret fire.... and everything takes SOOO long, especially if you use phase turrets.

Even the medium sized ships don't do it for me... sure, it's good to start out with a Lazira or a Freigh Courier (sp?), but after a while, I just have to upgrade. My favorite ships are the Voinian Cruiser and the Igadzra Igazra. Both have immense amounts of armor and shields respectively. However, the main advantage lies in the fact that they can hold 5+ weapons. You know how much fun it is to have an Iggy ship with 5 neutron turrets or 3 neutron and 2 emalgha/phase? Ships go BOOOOM. And better yet, you don't even need secondaries then, the turrets solve all your problems.

I used to go for high shields and turrets and speed, now I tend to use more secondary weapons and then use the smae tactics as the computers AI but a little more refined for similar sized ships. I like my Azdgari Cruiser, I'll have to get a new one though to work with EVO 1.0.2.

Well I fly in the Emalgha Freighter (I'm sure anybody who isn't a newby knows that)
They aren't bad with the proper upgrades and have pleanty of room for them. This ships beauty lies in a manuver called "Early Bird Gets the Worm" You got to do the attacking. And fast.

The Emalgha Fighter is nice because you have these super heavy cannons and missles on it, just remove them and you got pleanty of room to upgrade!

Patton, if I were to get an emalgha freighter, would you suggest getting the freighter upgrade or a couple of mass expansions? Which one offers more space?

I'm with the thats-a-fricken-lot-of-guns mentality. I don't have access to fast ships 99.999999999% of the time but I do try to MAKE my ships as fast as I can. I like to get a Voinian Crusier, outfit it with as many turrets as it can carry, get all the speed upgrades and then put whatever else I want on it.

Oh yeah, that's a definite must..... the one thing more annoying that duking it out with 2 turrets is flying at 2mph... All my big war wagons have all the possible speed upgrades. Long live the Aggies.

All my final ships are fully upgraded heavy warships with maxed out speed and turning upgrades.

I still prefer my Lazira of doom, with its speediness.

It should also be noted pretty much any ship is a good one once you've slapped the Plasma Siphon on it.

I never use secondary weapons, so I can make a lot of space by selling off whatever weapons a ship comes with. A crecent warship without it's fighter bay and SAD molicules can be loaded out with phase turrets, and still have room for all the movement upgrades (including the Azdgari one). Although it doesn't pack a tremendous punch, it responds nicely to my commands, and it can cloak! Still, I like my Drednought more.

Definately in the middle for me. Having low sheilding sucks, but having low speed sucks too. If I had to have one or the other I'd probably go with speed, but I find more often thatn not that it's possible to have the fastest ship in the galaxy and also have reasonable sheilding/weaponry.

Often I play through the game in a Zidara (the lazira's a POS). Kill the beams, upgrade it, and there you go.

If there were a EVMP, then packs of non/AI piloted and upgraded azdaras would rock! I personally like flying azdaras with shield upgrades.

I like my Dreadnought for sheer killing power, but it is a little slow Prior to that capture, my favorite ship was a maxed-out Igazra (Dospect, shield & engine and RCS upgrades, many turrets, mass expansions, and leave just enough cargo space ( ~25 tons ) to be useful). I never liked secondary weapons, they seem so unreliable. Sometimes I'll stack up three needle launchers though, just cause they're cheap to shoot and help vaporize fighters

To me it seems to take the challenge out when all you have to do is hit r and hold down the space bar.Just my opinion though.But i do like the feeling of buying my big hulk becaquse i usually have saved up for it for quite a time.But usually once i but it i have nothing to do with it because i did the 3 main objectives to get the money for it :rolleyes:
