    • switching armor bug

I just noticed that when I switch from elven chain mail to druidic armor I went down to 8 dexterity, from I believe somewhere on the mid teens. Now I have purchased the elven armor, again from Berglum (I sold the ECM in order to buy the DA) and put it back on, thinking the loss in dexterity was due to the lack of special elven armor, I lost the last 8 points of dexterity I had.

That was a mouthful, but I cant think of no other way to lay the ground work. Now the question:

What is happening here? Has that happened to anyone else?

      Anxiously yours,
      Mr Mendleson

    • You got bad karma. The armor doesn't like you.

Did you search for it? I think I remember seeing something about this a while back, so I doubt you're the first one to discover it.

Mr Mendleson, do you have an earlier saved game you can go back to? If so, I think you should try to recapture that lost dexterity. I know some armor causes a loss of speed but I was not aware that one could lose dexterity as you did. The loss of speed is only a point or two. I don't think there is a bug in the software but you may have a game that got corrupted somehow. I would also like to see other responses to this problem.

Edit: You wouldn't happen to be using the Bow of Patience would you? This weapon tests your patience by lowering your dexterity  and if so, switch to something else. 🙂

    • I don't have an earlier extra saved version. Now I know its a good idea.

I do have the Bow of Patience. I don't think its currently equipped though. My older saved game now has the 0 dexterity, hmm. I may have to start a new one.

Alright, I'm still open to thoughts and I'll report any headway.

      Cheers,

Ah-ha! I think we may have found it. I suspect you lost your dexterity earlier when you took the Bow of Patience in hand, and only noticed the difference when you changed your armor. Does that make any sense?

    • So the dexterity loss is permanent?

I equipped the Dagger of Ferret (sp?), and I only get a Dexterity of 2, rather than the 3 of the description. Curious.

'Fraid so, permanent in the sense that they will not regenerate, but they are replacable. You could install a cheat such as the Gold plug-in, go to Witch Finger and buy a lot of elixirs of dexterity (I think they are 4500 gold each) to restore your level. I don't know why you only got 2 from the dagger.

    • I was able to purchase two elixirs to increase dexterity, I was able to make it back to 1 dexterity. So it is possible to run into the negatives with the Bow of Patience. I am not yet ready to see how far, maybe later.

I wonder if it is possible to use the bow long enough to run back into the positives, to learn how to use it. A mini quest, possibly will-breaking, but to the devoted Ranger there is no doubt as to the value of patience...as well as proper armor and beverage.

What is the average damaging hit interval of the Bow of Patience?

      Cheers,
      Mr Mendleson
