I bought a Venus Fly Trap today. I was going to name it "Republican", but the Fly Trap is benifical to the environment. I'll save that name, one day I might find a plant that eats poor people and minorities.

-Whats the use of that when the computer just crashes and gets infected by viruses? Besides, why would I want that?

    • hmmm. I'm not sure where David said that, or what context it was taken from, but David is an independent programmer who publishes his games through us. He's free to have any opinion he likes (though again, I'd like to see the context).

As for my own opinion, I agree that a big part of being "user friendly" is not crashing or causing users to lose data... however, I find myself being far more productive and comfortable under OS 9 than under Windows, BeOS, Linux, or even OS X (though hopefully Apple with fix this).

Memory protection is nice, as is pre-emptive multitasking... but there are other very important usability issues that should decide your platform of choice. Mine's a Mac.

    • Oh... I didn't know that. And you don't even check your own progress logs? It's in the "Deimos Rising" progress log.

Yes, I read the progress logs -- should I remember every comment from every product, even those from 5+ months ago? I think I have more important things to be doing (and you should be more courteous).

    • Is Windows 95 a Virus?
No, Windows 95 is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:
      They replicate quickly.
      OK, Windows 95 does that.
Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so.
      OK, Windows 95 does that.
Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk.
OK, Windows 95 does that, too.
Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems.
Sigh... Windows 95 does that, too.
Viruses will occasionally make users suspect their system is too slow (see above) and the user will buy new hardware.
      Yup, that's withWindows 95, too.
Until now it seems Windows 95 is a virus, but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.
So Windows 95 is not a virus.
