    • getting rid of escorts

I dont care how much hate mail i get for this but, I'm running EVO with executor (my old mac is now just an overpriced lightbulb. And i discovered a neat little trick for getting rid of escorts (since alt tab downsizes executor on a PC) go to one of the UE renegade bases and buy a mine layer and some mines. Leave the planet, tell your escorts to hold position, lay a mine, and run! The first ship to try and dock with the planet will be destoryed along with all your escorts. This is also a good way to boast combat rating, I got moved from harmless to fair (with only 6 UE freighters, could be more effective with some turncoat escorts 🙂 ) doing this once, and it doesn't piss off any governments.

---------Which is better, to discontinue to exist or to never exist at all when you live in fear of returning to where you came----------------

      ------------------

    • Actually, I've heard that just owning space mines makes the UE mad, since they're illegal weapons. I haven't done it myself, but I personally wouldn't risk it. A better solution, if you don't mind not boosting your combat rating, would be to just leave them over some alien renegade world like Mavs, where they'll be destroyed really really fast. And jump out of system before they start coming for you. Of course, it might not work if they go for you first...maybe this won't work after all, but it might.

    • You could simply change the "change target" key to something other than tab...

      ------------------
Some people have a way with words, while others... erm... thingy.

    • worry not, they do not lower your standing with UE. But how do you change the key that would be useful so i dont have to go all the way there to get rid of some escorts.

      ------------------

    • well i don't know if it's just a fluke (probly not), but exec-dos doesn't seem to minimize (in win98 at least)
and to change the key, just hit 'set prefs' or something like that when evo first opens

One sign you've been playing EV/O too long:
If you play a racing game and you keep shifting into neutral because you're trying to use afterburners.

    • Personally, I have never gotten busted by the UE for space mines, besides, hard for them to get you if you are not in their space...

As far as I know owning a weapon doesn't make a government mad unless it's on a mission (it would be a good idea for EV3), we can't tell the same about ships 😉

    • They only get mad if you blast their ships or abort their missions. I have gotten in loads of trouble for doing both.
