Eirik, u are an ass, why dont you BACK off. He was just stating an opinion of his, and its actually not a bad idea. X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter is a good game, and if you could make Escape Velocity 3-D it would be great.
THink about it for a second, what do many of those games you mentioned in your little hissy fit all lack.
1.) A decent, well thought out plot
2.) An enviornment than contains all the EV elements
Does Descent have a bar, and multiple levels on which you can land, go to a bar, bet, get missions, buy ships and weapons?
Not in MY DESCENT, or does your Descent differ from everyone elses? If so, can i get a copy?
EV 3-D would be a nightmare to create, there is no doubt about that. NO ONE SAID IT WOULD BE SIMPLE OR EASY TO DO. Avara however was 3-D, so why not make EV 3D as well, huh?
OR DID WE FORGET THAT AVARA HAD 3D GRAPHICS!!!!!!!!!!!
If EV was 3D, it would be amazing. 3D space battles in real-time, different parts of planets to land on containing different things, like a bar on one side, the spaceport shipyards on the other. Why would this be bad??? Because you prefer a flat top view to a total enviornment with different factors.
Why dont you get a freaking imagination. EV 3D would be a great game, 20 times better than EV, but I don't know anything about C++ programming.
The task however seems like it would be an extremely difficult one. I don't doubt that Ambrosia could do it, I just doubt whether or not they want too.
Why do people always look at 3D EV as such a crappy idea. I would buy it, I would play it, I would enjoy it, and I would post about it.
Do we always have to shut down people who have ideas, just because WE CAN'T MAKE THOSE IDEA'S A REALITY??????????
Frankly, Vice Admiral Jon, your idea's are good, at least you seem to have an imagination, which is more than i can say for the other people around here.
So, I say keep throwing your ideas out, its a message board after all. If people don't like your ideas, you ain't forcing them to read them, your not acting like a Big Brother from 1984. Albert Einstein once had a quote about great minds being held back, but I won't bother to quote him incorrectly, and lesten the power behind his words.
And for everyone else, who thinks that his ideas are crap, why don't you try to come up with some thoughts of your own, and see how you feel when someone else, on a whim of stupidity, desides to shut off your idea, using only the brute force of their tongue. don't bother to reply calling me a fool, i haven't said anything you already know. You screwed up, you stepped out on a limb, and it broke. EV 3D MAY be an impossobility, but should we stop people from dreaming about it?
When we do that, we become Big Brother, we BECOME 1984, we become everything we as humans claim to stand against.
Oh, and on another note, an EMP would be a good weapon against those damn UE Cruisers!
