    • The arada

I have noticed quite a debate on the Arada in some of the topics here. Now is your chance to battle it out. Is the Arada good and why? If you think the Arada is bad, then state your reasons here.

I personaly have found little use for the Arada. It is too average for my liking. I'd rather just have one exetreme -- either a heavy warship, a massive freighter or a very fast fighter than a little bit of each.
      Anway, post your thoughts here.

    • Hmmmmmm. Well, I actually haven't used the Arada at all, although from what I see of it, its a pretty cool ship. All Aradas have pretty nice maneuverability, good cargo and weapon space, and decent weaponry. To me they're more like a really big starfighter or gunship.

Well, I'm of the fast fighter school of thought. When fighting, I prefer to
try to dodge secondaries (e.g. rockets) and slow projectiles (e.g. neutron
turrets) rather than using something that is too slow to dodge and relying on
      its massive shield or armor.

The problem with fighters is that they usually don't have enough weapons space
to carry secondaries, so they can't pack much of a punch. The arada is a
great compromise; it can fly almost as well as a fighter, but can carry some
      deadly weapons as well.

There's nothing so beautiful as two aradas fighting each other with dispersal
rockets. 🙂 Fire your rocket, then frantically turn away on afterburners to
      dodge the other guy's rocket!

    • I'm from the big-ass holy-crap-that's-alot-of-turrents ship type school of thought. I truely wouldn't be found dead in an Arada but I beleive that EVERY ship has it's strength.

That Arada has to be the most flexible of all ships!! It can become anything with all that expansion space... Thank you for listening.

    • I like the Arada, and use it untill i can buy a better ship. Its quick and manueverable, and also quite upgradeable.

      ------------------

    • It a great ship, but I don´t use it that often. Still it´s a great ship. It may not suit my/your type of style, but that dosn´t mean it´s a bad ship, only that it dosn´t suit you/me.

    • Aradas are easily killed by crescent fighter swarms. That's reason enough to get a tougher ship (well for me it is).

    • Depends on the pilot...always...If you like fast attacks and quick escapes...then fighters are for you...
If you like a good combo of speed and fighting ability, plus room for cargo, then you like Aradas and Zidaras...
If you're a turret user and love the shear power...then you like Igadzras, Crescent Warships, UE Cruisers, or Voinian Cruiser...

      and I prefer Zidaras...=)

      PEACE YO!

    • The Arada has to be the most versatile, as it can be any type of ship — even carrier — without sacrificing jump time. But I'm happy with my Miranu Courier; 1 Phase Turret, 2 Fuel Tanks, 2 Fuel Scoops, IFF Decoder, Density Scanner, Afterburner, and can easily destroy Igadzra Aradas and several types of fighters in guerilla warfare.

    • Azdara. It can kick ENYTHING!!!!! The world needs more ships like it. Or at least the EV series does.

    • The Azdara is really a mistake in my opinion. When Ambrosia designed it, I think they wanted a fighter, that was so quick and maneuvreable (sp?) that it could dodge secondarys. And it would have to dodge secondarys because of weak shielding. What they messed up on, was the recharge rate. If the shield recharge rate was 10% slower, it would be a lot more balanced. When I look at the Arada, i compare it too existing ships around 1 million credits. The other ships are, the freight courier, the Turncoat, and the Miranu Freighter. The Turncoat is a very versatile ship, and I think it is equal to the Lazira in versatility, but it just doesn't have enough shielding and armor to be a viable ship. The Turncoat is a lot better in 1.0.2, and it is a decent warship. However, its too slow for my personal tastes, and although it has a lot of room for expansion, it just isn't practical. I would sell the fighters, but even then, with every upgrade concievable it can't compare to other ships of its class. The Miranu Freighter is a very good deal, and for a few more credits, you can upgrade to the heavy freighter. These ships are a steal, because they can simply rake in the money. However, much of EVO is combat, and freighters aren't combat ships. The Arada, is a fast, heavy fighter, that I think is perfect for fighting Voinians, and Warships. It has and extroardinarily large amount of room, 100 tons of weaponspace, and 40 tons of cargo. I usually get a mass expansion. I use space mines and neutron cannons against the voinians, and dospect and dispy rockets in the crescent. Its quality is based on its versatility, but I just can't see it being used extensively 1.0.2, because it has neither shields nor armor, to match its firepower. It is, at its best, a heavy fighter, and at its worst, a heavy fighter. I can't see it being used for much more than hunting renegades, or doing emergency missions.

    • I'm kinda new to the game, but I really like the Arada. The only reason I abandoned it for a Lazira is because of shields. And I would be helpless unless I had captured an Arada for an escort. He flies around and makes quick work of just about all the fighters and Helians I encounter. The Arada is a kick-butt ship.

    • I like Big Slow War Ships because they can't be blown back by the inpact of some projectiles! Also they have more weapon space

    • Peter Cartwright wasn't the only non-Ambrosia person involved with EVO. There was also Chris West who rendered/built a lot of the ships and Jason somethingorother who designed them on paper first but couldn't use a computer.

    • ah... the arada. good speed, acceleration, and turning. decent cargo space. good shields and armor for a ship of its size. fast hyperspeed jump. and then theres its 100 tons of mass (once all outfits r sold off). when i first started playin EVO i thought it ruled. but i was new then and one thing i didnt relize was that compared to other ships, its space sucks. oh sure... when u first buy it, it has 80 tons of space to work with. but thats nothing. and heres why: it doesnt come with any outfits except for 4 phase cannons. most othere ships only have about 25-50 tons to work with, but they come with other outfits. take the cresent warship for example: it only come with 35 tons of space, but once u sell all the outfits off, it has 215 tons to work with (i think). plus, at 70 tons of cargo space, it has plenty of room for a few mass exps.

if your gonna buy an arada, why not go one step better. buy the miranu gunship. personally, it is my favorite ship in the game. heres why:
      1. its not much slower than an arada and with the engine, thrust, rcs it is faster.
      2. once all the outfits r sold off, it has 195 tons of space. the arada only has 100.
      3. the gunship has shields of 80 and armor of 25. the arada has shields of 50 and armor of 10.
      4. the gunship has room for one more turret than the arada.
      5. the gunship isnt much more expensive than the arada. the gunship is 2.25 M and the arada is 1 M.
      6. the gunship jumps almost as fast as the arada.

the only downside to the gunship (in my opinion) is that it only has 25 tons of cargo space (the arada has 40). but the gunship has plenty of room for cargo exps.

      here is my suggestion:
      buy a gunship
      keep the turrets
      keep the repulsor beam
      sell off the SAD stuff
      buy 2 fuels scoops
      buy 2 fuel tanks
      buy an afterburner
buy the engine, thrust, and rcs upgrades
buy all the stuff that doesnt take up space
      buy 4 shield boosters
      buy dospect armor
buy the outfits that u r given access to when u have joined and helped a strand
buy anything else that u like and that i forgot to mention
      enjoy your awesome gunship!
