Seriously people, the idea of having films in between every mission is perfectly doable. My father runs a Theater and is a very accomplished director. Not only does he have acces to the best hardware and software for filming, but so do I (daddy's boy - wait no! That sounds as if I'm gay! :)).

I may be able to persuade him and some of his fellow actors and his students to help me in filming some movies for EV:O. For instance, my dad looks a bit like Jeremy Irons, and if he grows his gotee, he looks exactly like I imagined Admiral McPherson to look like.

We could get one of my dads students to play you, or perhaps have a male and female version with different lead actors. I could use my skill with Cinema 4d XL to create some great special effects and space battles.

I've always thought it would be a cool idea.

Heres one of my themes: There is one of the main charachters freinds is blown up at pax station by UE destroyer accidentally or something, he uses an escape pod and lands at pax where a vonian offers missions (you know) and scince he's pissed at UE he helps them. Anyhoo, in the clash beetween the dreadnaught (there would be more ships escorting it) his cruiser starts to break up, and remorsefull he pilots the cruiser into the dreadnaught, therefore destroying it.

I find it amazing that no one has yet mentioned the money. Even a movie with small release, little publicitiy, and cutting all the corners it can will cost upwards of $100,000 to make! And if it's going to be some kind of special-effects extravaganza, then even more!

Where is that money going to come from? Private donations? Bake sales? Give me a break.

Escape Velocity (and Override) have a rather large following. The release of Escape Velocity 3 is getting some publicity and i think it will be a very popular game. That is exactly what happened to Wing Commander. The third game made it really popular. Look at it now, they have books, a movie, a cartoon show, and other stuff.
The Wing Commander movie sucked. Wing Commander fans asked for another movie to fix where WC went wrong. Now, EVO has the evil alien menace (Kilrathi/Voinian), the strong human government and navy (Terran Confederation/United Earth), but EV: TMP would take place from the eyes of a mercenary pilot. That would be cool, and it would probably attract WC fans, as well.

I know that the UE/Voinian missions haveplenty of movie
script material in them. But what about the Strand War?

I think that the plot if having this three way war between
three factions of a divided race would provide
a very interesting plot for a movie that would
capture the auidience's attention. If you have done the
missions for all three Strands you'll notice that in each
mission string there is a deep plot especially (by my oppinion) in the Zidagar.

I think that if there was movie both UE/Voinian and Strand conflict I think should be included.

Fifty years ago, you left our planet.

Upon the detection of a remote and indecipherable signal directed at Earth, the United Nations of Sol constructed humanity’s first interstellar ship. In honor of the program which enabled man to see space for the first time, the vessel was christened the Sputnik 2.

A voyage was plotted to the source of the alien signal, the Voinia system, dozens of lightyears away. The effects of relativity would cause only years to pass on board the Sputnik 2, as it approached the speed of light, while decades would pass on Earth. The ship's crew would return to a home a century in the future.

You spent over five years with your crew on the Sputnik. On Earth, one hundred and fifty years went by.

When at last the Sputnik emerged from the pitch blackness of deep space, and starlight gave way to sunlight, you began searching for signs of the originators of the signal. Your search was brief.

The alien sun was eclipsed by the sudden appearance of a colossal ship, dwarfing the Sputnik. In stunned silence you watched a message appear on your viewscreen.

“HUMANS: YOU CALL US VOINIANS

“YOUR WORLD IS NOW IN VIOLATION OF OUR SPACE. WE WILL CONQUER YOU. RESISTANCE IS USELESS

You tried to play on the Voinians' fear. What would prevent Earth's "secret weapons" from destroying the Voinians in the battle?

Finally you made an appeal to their practicality. All you wanted was freedom for humanity. There never need be any more contact with Voinia ever again. Both sides could go their ways, seperated from one another.

The Voinians answered:

“NO.”

Soon your crew was preparing for war. Your original mission to make contact with the source of the alien transmission was complete. Your new objective was military: save humanity.

The problem with an EV movie, is that nobody but EV Fans would watch it. anyway,...

Screen is white

White turns to yellow, yellow turns to orange and fiery red

Camera shows that we are viewing the back of a rocket

Rocket explodes violently, screen white again.

screen is black again, then 4 UE fighters swarm across screen in flurry of Blaze Fire

Fighters turn, and head directly at camera

Another explosion, and slowly, like in space-balls, a (UE Carrier/Voinian Cruiser) drifts across screen and explodes

Voinian Fighters/UE Fighters fly across screen, same time escape pods fly out of explosion, and Fighters kill the pods

here's my version:

(screen is black light rolling music starts, picture of earth is shown)

narrator: "this is our homeworld, earth. humanities planet, to call their own. or so they thought...alien technology was discovered that allowed for faster than light travel between starsystems, perhaps galaxies. the humans began to colonize. the first world was our closest neighbour, alpha centauri. the primitive life there soon adapted to the human's prescence. soon, many other worlds had been colonized, and the United Earth government was born, to unite the planets and humanity. until they found...the voinians. with ships built of armour so thick and dense, that primitive human technology was insufficient to damage, and a hostility towards all life, but their own, the voinians swept up against the humans and annihilated their fleets"

BOOM rocket smashes into UE scoutship as it tries to fight a v. heavy fighter. scoutship fires blaze cannons at voinian. a rocket hits fighter from destroyer, fighter goes boom.

scene goes to science facility on luna.

scientest speaking to admiral: "sir, we need better stuff. our only weapons consist of voinian heavy rockets and blaze cannons, hardly a match for their weaponry."

admiral: "well then, what shall we do? complain to the senate that our scientest are stuck, and that we surrender to the voinians?"

private rushes in

private: "sir, sir! we've just had a breakthrough! one of the scientests has used a titan missile guidance system to harness heavy rockets, this may be the key!"

admiral: "well well, this is the best news that i've heard since the brains went to work, i want this weapon thrown into mass production now and attached to all destroyers."

private: "yes sir!"

private leaves room.

admiral: "i want you to find me a ship designer, somewhere. i'll have a shuttle to earth ready in one hour, i expect you will be on it. there is a certain woman by the name of anna balishova...she may be our only hope for building a better capital ship. in the meantime i must contact the senate and tell them the good news"

scientest: "but, well...yes sir..."

next scene: anna balishova's house in the russian countryside (i assume shes russian with that name and all)

scientest goes to door, rings bell/whatever futuristic device. anna comes to door.

scientest: "ahem Ms. Balishova, you have a reputation of designing ships, admiral (noname) requested that i examine your ship designs, may i come in?"

anna B.: "sure, step inside. is there anything else i can do for you?"

scientest: "oh no, i just need to see the ship designs"

anna B.:"alright, step this way please"

anna shows scientest the designs on a computer screen. he asks for copies, she gives them to him ect.

this would be the escelation of the EVO story. it would go on untill the battle of sol. then it would skip ahead 10 years and throw a mercenary captain in. it would go on from there...

(Several shots of some simulators, then a graduation.)I went through the United Earth Naval academy like everybody else, but I declined to become just another fighter pilot; I set out on my own. (Scene of a shuttle taking off.) My first ship was a Shuttle; boy, that was a crap ship, but I'll almost miss her. (Shot of a Cargo Transporter taking off) At one point I almost decided to join the Renegades, I knew there was good money in those freighters. (Cargo Transporter is blown apart by incoming Kraits and a Helian. An escape pod flies off just in time.) Then they blew up my ship: not a good idea. Eventually I built up enough credits for a Freight Courier (? the one that can only be bought on the one planet...) (Scene shows main character smashing a champaigne bottle over it); she's a quite sturdy vessel. (Talking with a UE Person in a bar) Anyways, I was recently offered an important mission to pick up a Voinian Defector; apparently quite important. (Fades to a view from within he Freight Courier) Well that about sums it up.

Commander (the previous narrator): All systems go for hyperspace to Dogover system?
Pilot: Roger.
(some pushing of buttons on their consoles.)
Commander: ALright, lets go!
(Ships visible through the screen suddenly shoot back and stars start to hint that they are accelerating as well as the noise and slight vibration. Everything then flashes white. White fades away to show an immense Voinian fleet surrounding Pax station with the sun behind and to the left of it.)
Commander: Oh s-h-i-t!
Pilot: Uh, roger that..

Narrator: For many centuries mankind has dreamed of contacting extraterestials and traveling beyond the stars...Twenty years ago we gained that ability.

(A small primitive looking ship launches from the surface of Luna)

Voice from luna: Godspeed Voyager

Voice in ship: See you in one year

(Primitive ship's engines golw for a second, then zooms off into the distance)

Narrator: The development of the Hyperdrive allowed us to travel to great distances in a short amount of time.

(Screen changes into a family gathered around a TV)

Narrator: All of humanity watched as the starship "Voyager" landed on mankind's first interstellar colony of Centuari.

(Screen shows several shuttles taking off from a hangar)

Narrator: Within 10 years Hyperdrive technology was avalable to the public, and anyone with a few thousand credits could start a life of their own as a merchant captain. But space wasnt safe, various renegade groups began boarding helpless freighters and stealing their precious cargo, thus the United Earth Government was formed to protect the innocent.

(Screen changes to a group of UE fighters destroying a Helian and several Kraits)

Narrator: But then the Vionians came.

(Screen shanges to a shot of a fighter flying around Verril Prime, Camera zooms into the fighter's cockpit)

Fighter pilot: Patrol unit 1158 to ground control, all seems clear out here, you can send out the next shift ... (pilots eyes narrow as he glances at the radar) wait a second, my scanners are picking up something massive.

Voice from ground control: Confirm that pilot, something massive?

Fighter pilot: Yeah, its huge whatever it is. I'll try hailing it. (Pilot punches a few buttons on a panel) No response. Ground control, i'm gonna try to get a closer look. (The ship gradually gets closer) What the hell is that? Ground control, this thing is huge and grey, kinda flat with what looks like turrets on the top and bottom. It's defenately alien.

(Vionian Cruiser's turrets turn to face the fighter and fire)

Fighter pilot: Huh? Oh SHI...

(The UE fighter explodes as dozens of Neutron rounds hit it)

Ground Control: Unit 1158 respond. Respond dammit!

(Camera changes to ground conrtol room)

Officer1: Captain, get UE high command on the horn now, inform them that we have a hostile alien craft on the border of UE space.

Officer2: Sir, we have incoming hostiles, it looks like 5 fighters.

(Officer1 looks down at the floor)

Officer1: Men, its been a pleasure.

(Ground control office explodes, screen fades to black)

Narrator: Now, the Vionian war wages on with no end in sight.

(Title Appears)
