    • Toughest Mission

I am starting this string to see what you people think the hardest mission is. Not mission string. This includes risk to ship and hardest to complete in time. I am going to put my vote in for the final mission for the Azdgari where you have do defeat around 3 Zidaras and 5 Igazras with help from Enhanced Azdaras and Aradas. Though the Azdaras help a lot, you still pretty much have to take on the Igazras by yourself. And THAT is harder than any dreadnought. 😄

    • The final mission for the Miranu Gunboat series. there's like six Crescent Warships in the system, and you have to get rid of all of them, and all of the ****ing Crescent fighters they launch, which all swarm around you now (thank you very freakin' much, 1.0.2). The mission is really hard; just because there's so many ships to take care of at once.

    • How the fuc* do you get the gunboat missions????!!!!! By the way, the Final Adzgari mission is easy, just stay out of the way, always taking the last shot, to improve status. No, the hardest mission is the Disperse Pirates in Proxima Nebula. There are 5 Crescent Warships, with their 15 crescent Fighters. Plus, there is 10 more Crescents, or 2 Laziras and 3 more Crescents, or 3 Aradas and 3 more crescents. It would be easier, if there wasn't so much sensor interference, even with the sensor upgrade.

I got the gunboat missions by hanging around Zachit station blasting renegades until it got offered...

    • The hardest is the Igadzra mission where ya gotta kill about 5 crescent warships alone, the only way i did it was to buy a voinian cruiser and then supe it up, it was still hard...

    • It seems that everyone's idea of a tough mission is one where you have to kill the most ships. I, for example, got the Igazra before doing the Gunship, Dreadnought, etc. missions; then it becomes easy.

My idea of difficult missions are ones that depend heavily on timing, pilot skill, and just cleverness. Yes, I've been playing Frozen Heart lately. 🙂 Replaying, actually; I found it too structured the first time, but now I'm enjoying the puzzles Martin Turner set up. Now those are truly cool, and difficult, missions.

    • The toughest mission I recall is T.A.G. -- you're it, from classic EV. A huge fleet of Kestrels all against you... there's two allied corvettes hanging around, but they don't help you at all. Yeah, and then there's the Alien Cruiser of EV. That baby was incredibly tough, and its weapons hurt like hell. I only succeeded after many tries with a circle-strafing tactics and maxed out proton weaponry when, for some obscure reason, I got the fighters to stay away from me. The Dreadnaught is less difficult in comparison, methinks.

    • The Dreadnaught is much, much less difficult than the alien mission in the origional EV. I think I finally beat those guys by using a tractor beam to keep it in place while I circled it and shot at it for at least a few minutes. The alien ships are tough as heck, both weapons and sheilds are very good for them, and fast! The Dreadnaught really isn't any of these. The only thing it has going for it is that it takes a really long time to kill. Other than that, it's not a very good ship.

    • I think the hardest mission is the Voinian mission where new ships keep on showing up. I didn't have any escorts, and I only completed it on my fiftieth try.

    • You mean the last one in the Hinwar series? That one is harder in 1.0.1 than in 1.0.2 I am given to understand. I'm not sure myself, because I beat it the same way both times: by use of overwhelming force. I had a UE Cruiser with four Igazras and two Zidaras as escorts.

    • Alien cruisers aren't that hard. In my maxed-out rebel cruiser I can easily take on 3 at once. Just do the trick with the tractor beam and it's a piece o' cake.

On the orgional topic, I'd say the hardest is the one where have to capture Gaulon station. Mainly because you have to redo it so many #&@%ing times to make sure you hunted down all the #&@%ing Voinian #&@%ers!

    • Not dedicated, just exaggerated. I actually beat on my seventh or eighth try, but just by luck. When I got there, there was only 4 Frigates plus a Cruiser, and for a long time, the only thing that jumped in were interceptors and heavy fighters. Its easier in 1.0.2. The hardest missions in 1.0.2 really are the ones where there are lots of small fighters swarm you. In 1.0.2, the Zidagar Fighter and the Azdara are lots better.

That mission is impossible! My crescent warship isn't too good so I have to use the Monty Python and it's so slow! Everytime I defeat a frigate a new one shows up! I've quit that mission for now so I can get an Igazra and come back.

The mission isn't all that impossible. You just have to destroy all mission-related ship, that is, all those which were present in the system when you entered it. Count them at the beginning, then keep track of the mission-related ships you kill (try to board 'em... if it doesn't work, it's mission-related). Once you got 'em all, land on the planet. Also, if you leave the wrecks of non-mission-relevant ships drifting around, no new ones will appear.

In my first try, I landed after having killed about 4 Frigates. The mission didn't end, so I figured I got something wrong... then I did it again, with the trick above. It worked beautifully.

The way I did it was put something on the tractor beam button to depress it and the fire button, and I went to town. I came back an half-hour later, and my bro said it just got finished. Easy.

    • The final Igadzra mission where the Zidigar and Azdgari meet in the Mark system. Even though each side is supposed to wipe eachother out completely, with you finishing off the last of the remnants of the winning side. The Azdgari always win, leaving about 10 Azdgari warsgips with 18 azdaras each, you're pretty screwed.

I COMPLETELY agree. I found a way to handle it though - Bribe all the fighters, this may take alot of money but it works (and its better then dying). Then you can handle all the warships.

    • that mission is really hard, but instead of bribing the fighters i bribe the warships so when they leave the system three fighters leave with them
