    • PoG Quits Because of Error of Type 3

Hi, I tried to run the version of Pillars of Garendall that comes on the Coldstone disk. But every time I try to run it I get a message that says 'the application has unexpectedly quit, because an error of type 3 occured.'It does the same thing when I try to run the registration program that came with it.

It then says that I should save my work in other open applications and restart the computer. Well, I've tried that, and it doesn't help. I'm running an iMac with Mac OS 9.0.4 and 128 MB of RAM. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

      Thanks

      Hello Mr. Outlandish1,

I have a couple of suggestions for you to try. Let me know if they work or not, and if they do not we can go from there.

First, are you running POG from the CD or did you copy it to your hard drive and play it from there? If you are running it from the CD then copy it to your hard drive. There have been problems from running games from the CD instead of from the hard drive.

Second, are you running the latest version of CarbonLib, which is 1.5? If you are not you can get it (url="http://"http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=7883&db;=mac")here(/url). Download and install it, reboot, and then try to run POG from the hard drive.

Third, since you mentioned the registration application gives the same error, open the Preferences Folder and drag out the "Garendall License" file. We've seen cases where registering the game under some circumstances causes problems. This is being looked into at the moment(I don't believe there is a fix yet).

If this does not solve your problems post back and we'll see what else we can come up with to try to get you up and running.

      Good luck.

    • In addtion to the suggestion from Stark, also its always good increase the memory alloted to PoG this can avoid errors and crashes on mem intensive screens.

Stark: congrats on the 666th post and the new shiny Karma point!!!

    • Thanks for the input. The new version of Carbonlib did the trick. I was using 1.1.

Most excellent. Glad to hear that worked for you. Thank you for posting back that it worked.

      I hope you enjoy POG.
