    • Arada's(sp?) are cool

If I spelt that wrong I am talking about the little ship you can by i the "strand" area I know you can in Miranu space they are really awesome because they jump into hyperspace fast and for someone who would rather run then fight in small ships they are really cool if you people are planning on cussing me out and totally defacing my post don't bother please those of you with quote "clean" unquote opinions please relpy

    • I am in agreement with you. The only drawback with Aradas is that they don’t have space for many ranged weapons, so you have to take on pretty much everything ship to ship. I think I prefer the Zidara, even though it’s a little slower, just ‘cause you can put more missiles in it. But I guess with Azdgari shield enhancers the Arada could recharge quickly enough to let you take down capitol ships in a couple of runs. The sucky thing is when there is a tightly bunched group of warships, because you have to run and recharge before you’ve done much damage.

    • Yeah, I sort of agree myself. Personally, I view the Arada as basically being a midrange type ship. It's pretty well rounded, enough space to give the owner of the ship some flexibility in upgrades and such. I ended up ditching it, though, because quite frankly, it doesn't have the firepower or sheild/armor necessary to do those later missions which involve wiping out massive numbers of ships.

But yes, as Will said, the Arada is good for running away, so to speak. It's a reasonable ship for taking on comparable ships and possibly even a capitol ship with the right upgrades, but at the same time can outrun most ships, and enter hyperspace fast. Pretty decent overall. Just don't try to do the UE mission series vs the Voinians in it. 🙂

If you're talking about trying to take out the Dreadnaught in an Arada, then it's been done (by me and many other people I'm sure). I heard that some god-like player did it in a shuttlecraft...but then talk is cheap...prove me wrong children, prove me wrong...

Well I ain't a god but I took out the dreadnaught in a shuttle craft. Though it wasn't from skill, though I must admit I have some, anyone could do it. If you want to know how reply...

    • I'm sure it has something to do with a cheater plug, which sounds a lot more fun that it really is. Once you get a cheater plug and use it, it really spoils the game. Things that were once challenging just become banal and boring.

But enough about that. I wasn't talking about the Dreadnaught specifically. The Dreadnaught mission is about halfway through the mission series I'm talking about. Most notable of these is the final Hinwar mission, in which you must single-handedly take out a fleet of Voinian ships. If you take too long, other ships start appearing (just by virtue of hypering into the system) and attack you. Since the Arada simply doesn't pack the space necessary to hold firepower in secondary weapons that can knock them out, you simply need a bigger ship, or a lot of very expensive hired escorts.

    • Thankyou all for replying and for all those who have yet to reply One other reaosn I like the Arada (sp?) is that is has green running lights (Ithink they are called that) down both sides and some in the front and a neat tail fin thing in the back those three little short pointy things Then again looks aren't everything just most things.

    • I love my Arada! It's called L'Astronef Marchand (Merchant Starship). I don't think I'll trade it in, although, I must admit, I don't really care about doing the "destroy the fleet" type missions. I'm a peaceful trader.

Will, you haven't spelt it wrong. That is how you spell Arada.
      -Gav

      PS.

To the topic, I don't like the Arada. It only has 6 crew, and barley no armour/Shields. I also much prefer the Zidara, as it packsa real punch. If I'm in a Zidara I always capture six Zidara escorts, as their fighters alond with mine make for a destructive fleet.

    • Refit the weapons. Sell phase cannons and buy blaze cannons. Sell strand weaponry and buy hunter rockets. Then you can take on the Voinians. Be sure to get speed and manueverability upgrades and you got one hell of a ship. My ship is the D.F. Victory

    • Why get Blaze when Emalgha Cannons do better against arnour? Why get Hunters when Pursuit missiles are more accurate, as damaging and lighter. Think about it.

    • The Emalgha (sp?) cannons are clumsy, I don't like them. However, the neutron turrets do better against armor too, are more accurate, and better overall than blaze cannons.

I'll tell you why not get pursuit missiles. They don't sell them in UE space. That means you have to make something like a 20 system jump just to resupply. That's no fun at all. Oh, and pursuit missiles do less damage against armor. Hunters and pursuits do the same vs sheilds, but hunters do much more vs armor, so they are better vs. Voinians usually.

    • I agree with you on the Emaghlion cannons Gav, but not about the pursuit missles. I love using the weapons vs Strand ships because they are effective enough against shields. Hunters are better (at least in my opinion) against the Voinians because they pack a punch against armour (shields too but a ship that is well enough shielded can probably run away). I once unloaded about 35 pursuit missles into a V. cruiser (carrier?) and it still didn't go down. I can take out one with about 20 Hunters and some great manuevering shots.
