    • EVO Missions released

EVO Missions is a plug-in that adds some of the "lost" features of EV to EV Override. For example: traders now ask you for assistance or escort occassionally, and pirates now set up derelict traps. This and more can be added to the EVO experience with EVO Missions.

Available for download at the Add-Ons section or the Lightning Bolt web site (see signature).

    • Er, if I'm not mistaken, that's already in EVO ... in the Bar, there's the occasional "<insert name> we need an escort to <insert planet>" There are also Derelict Ships that float randomly, although a bit infrequently, that when you board them pirates jump in.

I've never seen either of those things, and I'm a frequent EVOer. I've seen derelicts, yes, but not pirate traps. I've never seen anyone, bar or otherwise, ask for escort or assistance. And certainly never a passerby freighter.

      Hence EVO Missions.

    • I haven't seen more than a few pirate traps, but I have seen (a needlessly miniscule amount of) derelicts just floating around. Also, many Miranu or independent traders have asked me to help them. If you have completed the Zachit (Miranu Gunship) missions, there are bound to be some escorting jobs. Sometimes, I even get Iggys asking me to escort Miranu convoys all over hell's half-acre. They aren't common, but they can be picked up in Miranu or Igadzra space occasionally.

      ------------------
"U.E.S. Iron Fist, request permission to dock."
      "Permission denied."
      "Up yours, Voinian scum!"

    • I thinks we have made him depressed enough now, knowing that he spent (or the one that did) all that time on some thing we already got! Well all I can say, it´s the thought that counts!

    • At least his plug-in adds more of these kinds of missions, right?

Which, as you people were saying, seem to be pretty rare. I don't remember getting as many of these kinds of missions in EVO as in EV.

      Which is not a Bad Thing™. 🙂

    • Hey, hey, hey, enough of the sympathy. I make plug-ins, that's all. I'm not here to elicit human responses from anything I do.

Alright, in response to everybody, I've never taken sides on the Strand War (although I'm in the process of doing that now), so if such missions exist, then they're not as common for people who choose to just be UE/Zachit pilots as they should be.

So my plug-in has redeeming value.

It's not that big of a plug-in, anyway.

If you want a big plug-in, that's coming along. I've come up with an excellent idea for a plug-in that I'm hard at work on. And yes, I do have experience before you all start doubting my ability to undertake a massive project. (I've seen it happen before.)

    • Could you make a plug that adds low frequency bass to the blasts and souch? Nothing else, just some low freq. bass. That would be great, cuz that´s what MAGMA don´t have. So, what do you say, could you make souch a plug (and do you want to)? Thanks.

      You mean "Project Nebula"?

And speaking of big plug-ins, you did make the Quartermire Trilogy, right?

Or am I living in the future? Is project nebula the Quartermire Trilogy? Because the theme music for the Magma Plug-in (which is part of project nebula) is the same theme music as that Quartermire plug-in on a MacAddict magazine a while ago, but without that "It Has Begun" voice.

      Correct me if I'm wrong:
      - You made the Quartermire Trilogy.
      - You made the Magma Plug
      - You are making a plug-in known to us mortals as "Project Nebula"
      - It seems as if you are planning to incorperate parts of the Quartermire Trilogy into "Project Nebula"
      - You make very good graphics
      - Your theme music is catchy
      - If you didn't make the Quartermire trilogy, you sure are stealing a lot of things from it
      - You like to make ships from a 3D perspective

Wrong person, kiddo. The esteemable David Karl of Meowx Design did Quantumire and Magma. Project Nebula is a cooperative endeavor between three dedicated developers, including me, the brilliant ColdFusion and Meowx Design. Project Nebula remains top secret; let it suffice to say that it is not the Quantumire Trilogy for EVO, and it's insanely cool.

    • I'm going to download the plug, now. Also, check out Syzygy's "tips" page. And his EV Missions which adds 60 new missions for all types of players. Syzygy, have you told the EV board about it yet?

Sorry I was out of the loop. Never, ever buy modems from Supra.

Your idea sounds good, and frankly, that and the warp sounds need some serious revisions. I have a nice, high-quality studio mic and household tools and I might consider putting them to use. If anybody has a way I can make a contained explosion sound without actually blowing up my house or burning it down, ideas would be appreciated.

I'll be sure to e-mail you on any advances or leads I get.

    • You could use a little bit of firework!? Or use a drum, the big one. If you got a 12" sub you could tapp on it with you hand and get some low frequency bass and then amlify it in the computer? Just ideas. (Nevermind the fireworks, it wouldn´t produce low frequency sound.)

EV Missions was released YEARS ago. However, I suppose I could update it or give some other excuse for reminding the EV community that it exists. 🙂

      <NOSTALGIA>

For the veterans out there, you'll remember way back when...the EV site had introduced the new feature of banner ads -- plug-in makers could post ads for upcoming plug-ins, and they were displayed in a large grid. A lot of people thought this was cool, and created ads for huge plug-ins without first thinking about what it was they were doing.

      I was such a person...

...except that eventually I hit myself over the head and decided I should actually make the plug-in, rather than just meekly admitting it was beyond my capability.
