    • Flak Plug RELEASED (I think)

Well, I released my flak plug, which adds one of the exciting features of EV 1.0.8 to your copy of EV 1.0.7 (EVO 1.0.1). It (obviously) adds flak. I uploaded it a while ago...anyone know the average time it takes before its posted? I thought the whole thing was automatic, but I guess the moderators have to screen it or something.

    • Are you thinking of a flak weapon as something that shoots lots of pieces in one shot? 'Cause the flak weapon in EV:O 1.0.2 (or EV 1.0.8) is something entirely different. Normally, when a weapons lifespan is up without it hitting anything, it just "goes out" with no explosion, but the flak option for weapons means that it will still blow up even if it doesn't hit anything (since you can set how large the blast radius is, it can still have an effect on ships without hitting them). Some applications (besides just having a weapon blow up at the end) could be:

time bomb with a "trip wire" - the weapon would have a large blast radius and life span for however long you needed; get close to a planet, drop it, fly away, and wait for the boom

shock wave - weapon would have shortest lifespan possible, a very large blast radius, and large impact; if you're being swarmed by fighters, fire the weapon and any ship near you in any direction get knocked back.

Ok your plug is released, however I would consider making an update, if you do I'll delete the old one for you and put in the new one. Anyway you're weapons won't do ANY damage, if your blast radius is smaller than the proximity radius it blows up when the ship is 20 pixels away and does damage to 1 point.

BTW, nice "readme" in your plug, if you want to slow down people from looking in your plug, you should at least take the templates out.

Also, it will be called EVO 1.02 not EV 1.08, the designer of the game gets to choose, so thats what it is called.

Doh, I left the interal readme in there?! Ack. I'll have to remove that.
Anyway, does it not do any damage on your copy? (Have you tried it?) The Powered Flak, with my copy (of EVO), does plenty of damage. It will take out a UE fighter a little faster then the max number of Phased Turrets (or was it neutrons I tested its speed against...bah I can't remember.).

I know the devloper can call it anything they want...but I'm stubborn 😄 (or maybe just unadaptable) Anyone else: is it only doing 1 point of damage on your macs? Oh, and normal weapon physics may not apply in the way they should, since the Flak has no mask :D. Thanks for your input..

    • The regular flak cannon/turret (the less expensive one) works for me. I haven't got enough credits in my new pilot for the bigger one.

    • Yes it works, I guess my conception of how the proximity/blast radius worked was a little off, I guess it blows up if its in 20 pixels, and then the blast is from the point of contact between the ship and the proximity radius. So the way you have it now, it only does damage to 1 fighter at a time, if you made the blast radius 20, then it will do damage to all fighters around it, because thats what a flak cannon is supposed to do. It fires a wide area of "flak" bits of metal and fighters go through them and it does a lot of damage to them.
