I started playing Frozen Heart a few days ago (congrats to Mr. Turner on a great plug), but got kinda stuck and sick of the strings after one day. Too boring to look for missions...

Anyway, I, the great pilot that I am, started playing it the way I played EVO--experimenting with new stuff. I managed to capture a Rigellian Cruiser, captured lotsa escorts, bought lotsa cool stuff... And found tons of bugs!

To start, about 1 in 2 times that I accepted a rush mission, it automatically aborted on me! Also: I demanded tribute from some planets, and they sent no ships! I thought "well maybe there are no ships," so i hit demand tribute again. Nothing. Also: lots of other stuff.

And a question: What's up with substance E?

I played right through the plug and started doing similar things. Its well worth sticking with the missions though, its a wonderful plug!
I didnt notice the mission bugs you mention, but I did get a similar response when I tried dominating some planets.
With some of the planets though, you just have to hang around for ages before the defence fleet arrives...perhaps the wait is to make the game seem more realistic. It makes sense that some planets may require assistance to travel from a long way off to help them.
Sometimes, though, I had to wait for so long that I gave up. So perhaps you are right and it is a bug.
My guess is that it is intentional, a LOT of thought has obviously gone into the plug.

Just try some. If you don't notice any changes, you can always sell it
Well, no you can't, but here's my advice; don't 'do' substance E unless your pilot is expendible (or you have enough money to buy a new ship)
