Just wondering, after you beat the guardian, can you leave the area and
wander about, or do you have to complete the game?

Once you defeat the guardian you are finished. There is no way out of the cave and if
you save/reload in the chamber where you killed the guardian there will be no way down
to the slumbering giant.

Hopefully someone will create a plugin to "fix" this.
