    • You asked a stupid question and MATT BURCH RESPONDED!!!!

That's just wrong in so many ways...

I think he was refering to either v.1.0.2 or Nova

According to pipeline on the old boards, Nova isn't a sequel in any way, whatsoever. And how could EVO be a sequel to itself? There's no plot change between 1.0.1 and 1.0.2, just new features and bug fixes.

      I SURE HOPE SO!!!
And the stuff that you get EVO for less if you bought EV is great, it made me buy both(not the only reasone, but one of them)!!!!

      PS.
      Elimi-Nation:
I think that would be EV 3, not EVO 3. Since EVO is EV 2...

    • Does anyone know a date about when EVO 1.0.2 or anyother EV/O related software are going to be released? The progress updates board is singularly unhelpful.

      And what is NOVA?

Originally, it was this humongous (I'm pretty sure the biggest ever, including bigger than EV:O) total conversion plug with great graphics etc.. It was made by a group called ATMOS (Pipeline and frandell are part of it), who were planning on selling it as shareware. Then Ambrosia came along and realized how seriously kick-ass it was, so they made them an offer. They said they might be willing to let Nova be the standard scenario and sold as a new game (EV: Nova) with the 1.0.2 engine (the Atmos team was beta-testing it since they needed some of the new features from it.) This is almost certainly what Matt Burch is talking about. It is as much of a sequal to EV:O as EV:O was EV.

I suppose that's possable, although you are just guessing (aren't you?), only some one from ATMOS/Ambrosia could confirm or deny it. although there are more possabilaties, for example:

1: your right, 1.0.2 is actually EV: Nova
2: they decided to make a new completly new "campaign" or what ever.
3: they decided to redo one or more aspects of the game and call it EV3
4: Matt Burch was lieing, probably just tring to stir up the board

there many others that i can't think of. personally, i'd like 1.0.2 to be EVO 1.0.2 not EV3 because if it were EV3 i'd have to scrounge up $25 wich i DON'T have...

You're all assuming that Matt means there will be an actual sequel. Perhaps for a moment Peter Cartwright said "A sequel to EVO would be cool, but we're not going to do it." So technically, he's heard about it. πŸ™‚

      1. Last I heard things were cordial between Ambrosia and Atmos, but nothing agreed upon. Of course, I haven't talked with them since a few busy weeks ago.

      2. I have no idea what you're talking about. "Campaign" in what sense?

      3. Well, if Nova does become EV-3, it'll be like nothing you've seen before. Say goodbye to the pristine, sparkly little Feds and UEs. Nova is an epic of it's own...

      4. Possibly, though I'd like to think better of him than that. Then again, I'e noticed a contradiction of sorts among Ambrosia/Matt Burch; Ambrosia has stated that after 1.0.2 no more updates will be done. Yet, in one of Matt's beta reports he said he created more data space for "further/later expansion." What does this mean? We can only guess.

If it is released as EV:Nova or something along those lines, I don't think it'll be $25. Then again, it doesn't matter to me either way, since I already have the beta. πŸ™‚

On a side note, besides more ships for EVO, another feature I'd like to see is a weapon that is not sprite based, but a shockwave that emits from a ship, rippling outwards, damaging all ships around, as it quickly expands before dissapating. Sort of like an expanding shield. Also, a cool weapon would be a variant of the SADs, where the weapon impacts and disables the ship for a few seconds, before releasing it. This would make combat more interesting and add a neat new spin to space fighting..

Couldn't you do something similar to this using the new flak weapon? Make a weapon that launches from the center of the ship, only travels for a pixel or so, and then explodes (not harming the player). With a large explosion graphic and and large blast radius, it might seem like the kind of shockwave that you want.

Yes, and your post is on how Nova could be considered a sequel to EVO. What I'm saying is there is going to be no more updates/sequels from Ambrosia.

No, I'm not guessing. The last I heard, it was fairly certain Nova would be grouped with the EV:O 1.0.2 engine to form EV: Nova, although the details might not be worked out. If you see Pipeline or frandall, you could ask them.

Bubbles, I was just about to say the same thing till I saw your post.

hmmm... out of curiosity, what was it that you didn't like about Ferazel's Wand? I thought it was the coolest game we'd done so far, and I'd seriously be interested in any substantive responses about what you didn't like about the game.

    • Some facts:

There will be EVO 1.0.2; it's in beta right now. You can check the progress logs at:

      (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/news/upcoming/")http://www.AmbrosiaS.../news/upcoming/(/url)

      ...for details.

As for EV3 or EV Nova, we haven't made any official statements about it; anything people are saying about it is purely conjecture at this point.

I think it's that it's that it's commercial. I personally like the game so much that I might dish out the $30.
