how can I string missions together?

Very simple (in principle - rapidly becomes insanely complex in practice). Each misn resource has an availbitset field, as well as compbitsets and failbitsets. Set up a mission with one or more compbits (or failbits, if they're supposed to fail). The next mission in the string should have that bit ID in its availbitset field. The mission won't be offered until the bit is set. If the bit becomes un set (by another mission), the mission will no longer be offered, allowing you to construct branching plotlines. Get hold of a copy of the EVO bible for more details (Ambrosia website, go to games, EVO, add-ons).

      What are visbits?

Every system (syst resource) has one. If the bit is set, the system is visible, if it isn't then the system is not visible. Useful for changing the character of a system in mid-plug. Again, see the EVO bible for more details.

Don't, it's bad for you :p. Seriously, EV-Edit is unstable even when working on EV plugs, and is a downright nightmare when working on an EVO plug. If you like the idea of the app crashing and taking your entire plug with it, continue to use it. Otherwise, I recommend getting to know ResEdit. It's not pretty, but it's free, it's stable and it works.

      It's a $256 resource editor that I have yet to pirate. 🙂

Stooges, eh? Well, hell, at least we ain't shilling for a cereal company.

Resorcer, O unenlightened one, is a commercial resource editor that is much more powerful, stable, and better designed than ResEdit. However, since it is commercial, the price is considerably higher than ResEdit's - at least $100 U.S., full retail is much higher. Me, I'm gonna stick with the freebie 🙂
