    • Graphical glitch on EVO

I am running mac os 8.6.1, and the zidagar phased beam looks are funked up. It has a littl ebeam of to the front, and another little beam about 130 degrees to the right of that beam, and only the one in the fron hurts. I have tried increesing memory, and switching from quiktime for graphics to quickdraw. Nothign works.

    • well im not sure why this is, but my bro had the same problem on 8.6 (i have 8.6 as well but i haven't seen the zidra yet) any way, just make a plug that modifies the phased beamer to have an inacuracy of 1 that fixed on my bros, so it should fix it on yours... if it doesn't well... i guess im wrong! 😄

    • There is no 8.6.1.

    • Wow, weird...

    • This is a known glitch in EV:O. Also, this question should go in the Override section of the board.

    • It's a known problem with EVO 1.0.1 (I don't know if 1.0.0 had the same glitch; it certainly doesn't show up in EV 1.0.5.) The flaw reportedly stems from an inacuracy setting of 0 degrees on the beams. Setting the innacuracy to 1 degree will supposedly fix the problem. I thougth a plugin which did this was available, but I was evidently delusional. Hell, the whole explenation might have been. But if you care, try cracking open the Override Data 2 file in ResEdit and setting the innacuracy on the weapon "Phased Beam" to be 1. It just might work.

      -reg

    • Im not too sure about that - I am using EVO 1.0.1 under Mac OS 8.1, and I have no problems at all... However, I have noticed the beam goes off at weird angles, but the effect is always to the front... same with the Igadzra beam that appears in one of the strand mission sets...

    • Nope, reg, it is in 1.0.0 as well as 1.0.1.
and if you set inaccuracy to 1, it shoots out at wierd angles.

Here's to hoping 1.0.2 is better.

when is it gonna be released, anyway?

    • Soon, I hope.

    • I had that problem too, until I set the inaccuracy to two. Remember that for beams, the inaccuracy refers to the width of the beam, not the number of degrees off center it will fire. If it is set to zero, it will theoretically become invisible, but instead it just screws things up. Change the inaccuracy to two in the EVO Data 2 file. I hope that the Arada side views are available for developers sometime (maybe when EVO 1.02 comes out???) I've done a little bit of modifications in Photoshop, but they're not very good.

    • Ok, thanks for that - but how do you do it. It has been annoying me for a while, and then someone talks about 'altering innacuracies' and I am lost - i am a relative newbie to the world of EVO (Ive only been playing a couple of months) and all this talk of changing stuff means nothing to me....

      Any help greatly appreciated.

You can go to (url="http://"http://micahl.virtualave.net/phasedbeam.sit")http://micahl.virtua.../phasedbeam.sit(/url) and it should begin the download for the fixer plug-in. Anyone is welcome to download it.

Actually, the ProxRadius controls the beam's width in pixels.

    • Thanks Micah

    • Another ultra snappy EVO Fixup plug-in can be gotten at (url="http://"http://www.megalink.net/~joe1/w/")http://www.megalink.net/~joe1/w/(/url)

Besides fixing the beams EVO Fixup does several other things like fixing the grainy menu. Unfortunately the latest version (with the menu fix and a readme) is not availible yet, I just need to clear up some target graphic borrowing things. I'll be sure to announce it here when I get the latest and greatest version up.
