Okay, so my five-and-a-half year-old grandson thinks grammy's the all-time champ, but grammy can't figure out what to do with the apparitions after the first save on this level. Can they be beaten or must I merely figure out a way to get past them and on to the upper level? (Yes, I've used the transporter and gotten the goodies there.)

    • Those are called 'wraiths,' and no, they can't be defeated. You'll have to run past them.

And, of course, welcome to the boards!

I was told that you were ment to kill them, using the mirror shield, but for some reason them being kill-able just didn't happen last moment (thats why they still bleed)

Actually Ben Spees (the guy who programmed the game) was quite surprised that they couldn't be killed after bouncing 5 or so of their own shots back at them with the shield - that's the way it was supposed to work. It was one of those glitches that never got picked up.

Oh well - just irritates me that I can't get 100% enemies in some levels! 😉

    • You guys are all great... now if I can just master the sproingy things in the crevice, I'll be on my way again.

Nothing is going to compare to Ferazel, but any recomendations for a next game I can play with someone who's mom really would rather he didn't have guns (the wand seems to have passed muster) and isn't enthralled with the idea of a lot of blood on the screen?

I hope you found the hidden save just before the springs.

And do a search for how to do the springs - it's been so long I can't remember...

    • I recommend Ben Spees' other game, Harry the Handsome Executive. It might not be as fun as FW, but it is very fun and looks a lot like FW. You can find it (url="http://"http://ambrosiasw.com/games/harry")here(/url). (url="http://"http://ambrosiasw.com/games/cythera")Cythera(/url) is another good game.

I dunno, the dark magic might be a little taboo... 😉

If you play Marathon using only fists, then you should be safe.
