If i'm felon because I dug up yet another bunch of topics, I would not know which topics those were. One of the moderators could tell me which topics iv'e dug up. How am I supposed to get karma without losing it? I am trying my best not to dig up topics so old they are yore, i'm trying not to be offending, but no! Zelda insults me, says I ignore e-mails from ASW, calls me "somewhat of an idiot", Thok gives out no sympathy, and every three weeks i'm karma-slapped. I am probably the most unsucessful member of this web/hacking board. One week after I first joined the web-board, I was slapped to -1. In the end of november, I was slapped to -2. Just today, 12/19/02, I find i'm -3. I could use some sympathy, and a little help. NOTE: If you are reading this topic and want to help, either respond by typing or dial my phone number. I am sympathetic. Honestly, I would recommend you read those guidelines and take them to heart; every one seems like good advice. Then I would create a new account and never mention who I was. I would not dig up old topics and I would try my darndest to follow those guidelines. If you do that I can't imagine your karma going anywhere but up.

Also, it is a bad idea to tell anyone your phone number or where you live. I usually try to reveal none of that sort of personal thing. This is a nice board, but the internet is not a nice place.

I don't think the moderators discriminate based on age, or IQ. Just think a little before you post. Take a look at the dates on the topics - that will tell you if you're digging up old ones.

My best advice would be to read the web board guidelines, and listen to Zelda.
If you want some sympathy, post on Just Chat.

You've certainly succeeded in being noticed - so that's sort of an opposite way of being successful.

You will gain one karma point for every twenty posts you make until you reach 0 again. This was designed on purpose so that people with negative karma will not be marked forever. Right now, you don't need to worry about making outstanding contributions to the boards as much as not making negative ones.

I dunno. How can you not understand what digging up old topics involves? It means..don't post on topics that are months old. You were warned repeatedly...mail was sent to you asking you to stop. But you just kept doing it!! If you're still confused you can also mail me. I'm sure you know my address by now.

I like to encourage new members. But this continued obtuseness is a bit much.

And I didn't really call you an idiot. Exactly. You were the one that asked what kind of an idiot we thought you were to think you'd post on old topics and then ten minutes later dug up another old topic to post on. I found that rather amusing and I just had to state that I wasn't sure what kind of an idiot you were. Saying that you weren't an idiot that dug up old topics then doing it again within the hour was rather funny. I thought. I couldn't resist.

I don't have many pet peeves on this board...I govern pretty liberally. But there is one thing I absolutely cannot stand: arguing about karma on this board. The boards are not the place to discuss karma. I normally karmaslap people who do this sort of thing, but you aren't aware of this practise, so I won't...this time. If you want to discuss the issue in detail, talk with me privately through e-mail or AIM. The boards are too public and make you look like a whiney bugger.

I'm sure you're a nice guy. I don't know your age and certainly not your IQ. I'm sorry to hear your life sucks; my life sucks too. In fact, I can point out all the guys on UBB who have had worse of a life than you have had for three to four times as long as you have. Nevertheless, what I do know is that you're fairly new to these boards. Despite repeated warnings not to bring up dead topics, you have. I don't know who gave you the -3 rating or why, but he or she probably had a good reason. If you feel you were wronged please bring it up through e-mail/AIM.

Let's summarise the main points before I shut up this topic for good.

• Karma topics are BAD.
• You got slapped because you raised up dead topics despite warnings.
• The solution 1: Stop raising up dead topics.
• The solution 2: Be peacable. Don't start fights. If you didn't start one, don't get into one. This goes for everyone.
• This topic is locked.
