It was a dark and stormy night....

Struggling against the wind and rain in Storm Valley, MonsterLady was ready for a rest. She thought about transporting into the Purple Haze bar.

"No," she decided, thinking out loud, "It's too noisy, and too many goblins, and Overrider has removed all the rules so who knows what carnage will happen there. I'd like someplace safe & quiet for people to just check in, rest, and say Hi."

Acting quickly, she built a sturdy structure, complete with a warming fire in a stone hearth on one wall, and a soothing pool of ziridium brine in the corner. A special spell, known only to Monster Lady, protected the entire structure from incursions from goblins or other bad guys.

On the door she fastened a sign:

ALL WELCOME - PLEASE CHECK YOUR WEAPONS AT THE DOOR

She arranged the furniture, and settled into a large comfy chair beside the flickering fire, with a tall frosty mug of Kokanee draft from her well stocked larder.

"I wonder if anyone will visit?" she mused out loud.....

Suddenly and with great surprise, Thok walks into the bar, and speaks "I'd love to just hnag out here, but really, I hate storm valley... Plus I have a tendancy to bring nuclear death traps just about everywhere I go.. Like omitted... Or omitted... Or omitted... Or the dreaded omitted. Or... Hmm... I'm giving away too many of my deadly secrets." Thok fishes around and pulls out a chest. "Use this wisely. And don't be afraid to use it, it's got something good inside." and tosses the chest to the ground near MonsterLady.
After Thok walks out the door to retreive his weaponry, MonsterLady carefully opens the chest with a 20ft pole. A max health increase spills out on to the ground.

OV walks in and checks his weapons at the door. "Well I have a wand" Monsterlady checks the bulgings in his pocket. "Oh that... Well that's just some fire bombs I keep around...."

OV gets a drink and hopes no trouble is caused

Yes, thanks to Zelda, who took pity. But I've got a ways to go to catch David Arthur! However, I've found the best way to get Karma is NOT to talk about it, ask for it, or whine about lack thereof! (Karma discussion is now ended).

MonsterLady takes a fresh batch of poppyseed muffins from the oven, offers one to OV, then settles back into her chair.

"Thok was here for a wee moment" she begins, "but left right away. I guess it is pretty boring here for you younger folk."

Silence descends upon the room, broken only by the crackling of the fire.

MonsterLady stirs the fire. The motion of the flames kindles a memory. "Care to watch a replay of the Flames shellacking the Oilers last night?"

Thok takes a muffin and eats it whole.
"Be right back" he says as he runs out the door. He returns, now lacking the nuclear death traps he normaly takes with him. "Hmm... Testing one level I'm working on... Already got a second level planned.." He takes another muffin and takes a bite. He points to the chest he left last time he was here. "Might want to take the max health increase crystal in there." He then tosses MonsterLady a... locket? "That locket is the key to the chest. Don't worry, I don't do nuclear death traps any more.... I do worse." After he finished the muffin, he pulled out a book and started reading.

MonsterLady stands with the locket in her hands, a befuddled look on her face.

"I thought the chest was already opened with a 20 foot pole in the previous post."

The locket starts ticking ominously.

"A ticking locket? Who ever heard of such a thing?" MonsterLady quickly uses the Max Health increase crystal, then runs over to the ziridium pool in the corner, tossing the locket back towards Thok.

"Thok, what have you created?"

Thok looks up from his book. "Oops, wrong locket." He tosses it as far out the door as he can. Thok pulls out some binoculars and sees that a grey armodillopine (sp?) catched the locket on his head. A thundering boom crashed through the area, splitting a few rocks where they stood. A huge explosion charred what little was left of the grass there into black powder, with including the blackened powdered remains of the armodillopine. He then fished around in his coat and pulled out another chest. Just to be safe, he opened it to see what was inside. Looking pleased, Thok closed the chest and locked it with a platinum key. He put the chest on the ground and gave the key to MonsterLady. With a smile, Thok said "Theres a couple rez necklaces in there."
He then sat back down and started reading again.

"Thanks, Thok. I'll save those for any travellers who come by and need them on their journey."

OV & MonsterLady move out of the ziridium pool back to the fireside. MonsterLady provides OV with a towel to dry off his feet and then gets everyone another round of Kokanee. (MonsterLady might be a little old lady, but she sure does like her Kokanee!)

(For a while, I thought this was actually about Storm Valley. :)) Ferazel walks in. His cloak is soaking wet, and his hands are cut and bleeding. He warms up by the fire, and sits in the zirdium. "Ahhhh." he says. He pulls out an iBook to and connects to irc.ambrosia.net on his channel, #ferazel.

Thok notices the burning smell. He puts down his book and runs to save the muffins. "Their a little burnt, but not much else." He then sets them down to cool.

Ferazel, under the spell of the zirdium and the warmth of the fire falls asleep. He doesn't notice until almost too late that he's been spamming 'qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq' for about 10 minutes.

MonsterLady awakes with a start.

"My goodness" she says "What a poor hostess I am! I hope I wasn't snoring!" She notices the muffins on the counter, and after being told Thok rescued them, thanks Thok profusely. (Poppyseeds being in short supply in the area, she would have had to substitute fireseeds in a replacement batch and didn't think that would go over too well.)

She looks out the window. It is still raining and blowing. Is that someone lying outside on the path?
