Try waiting until you bounce all the way to the bottom of the springboard before jumping again. You'll hear a boing! sound if you do it right. Sometimes you need to jump, land, wait for it to hit bottom, jump again, land, wait for it to hit bottom...
...lather, rinse, repeat...
Anyway, you'll get a little higher each time. As I recall, in Western Reaches, it's not very imperitive that you use any of those. Just nice.

Thanks for the help. The real problem was that it was so dark that I could hardly see the target to jump to. I finally recalibrated the monitor color spectrum at the Monitor and Sound Control Panel, and VOILA! ...it was as if night had turned into day! The jump is still tough, but now I can make it after several tries.
I strongly recommend recalibration of the color of the monitor, if you're having any kind of viewing problems, as it improved visibility in many other areas of the underground stages.
