    • Big, hairy bugs

When I try and pause during a game, the menu bar appears, and then the game quits out. Then the Finder shows a dialog box about an unexpected error. I'm using MacOS 8.5.1, and have a 6100. I can sort of pause by aborting, and leaving the menu open, but I can't change the Preferences to accomodate sudden slowness that results from loading a different level.

Other than that, it seems ok. Bit addictive, though.

Another bug: sometimes bits of the menubar appear during gameplay. It's sort of the reverse of what happens in Internet explorer where the menubar gets drawn over when it's not supposed to.

I was never able to get FW to work very well on my 6100 - I think the processor is just too slow, and probably not enough RAM. Works better on my 6500, which I am using system 8.0 on, and just whizzes along on my PB using 9.02, so the system shouldn't be causing the problems.

Try starting a new game and before loading a level access the preferences and put to the lowest graphics (don't check enhanced graphics).

You could also try allocating more memory to the game. Before you open the game, click once on the icon, then Command "I", and set the memory to about 50% more than what you have now. This might help.

You're right - is VERY addictive.

    • Why the frowny face? You make it sound like you spent a month in the Betty Ford clinic for playing FW too much.

Maybe he isn't getting anything else accomplished. (I know the feeling sometimes.) 🙂
