    • Flash Freeze -- how to make the Big Leap?

      Hi, everyone.

I've been able to figure out just about everything up until now . . . please help!

I'm having trouble making the Big Leap across the ravine (the one where you're supposed to grab the Xichrons on your way over), the one that comes just after the Double Speed powerup.

Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it!

Firstly, you'll have to practice to get it just right...so you'll fall a lot! Fortunately, there's now a save point right before you make the jump series so it's not nearly as frustrating as it once was. 🙂 I did a run right jump and as soon as I hit the ledge I immediately stopped. Then I would repeat for each ledge. Make sure you follow any xichrons that happen to go down...(hint hint)

I'd rather be a woman than a man. Women can cry, we get to wear cuter clothes, and we're the first to be rescued off sinking ships.

You mean, you'll put down your rock and I'll put down my sword and we'll try and kill each other like civilized people?

    • Thanks, Zelda. But I'm getting no nearer to completing the first jump. I am doing a run right jump but only grab three of the five xichrons before I go down.

I hate to whine. What do you think I'm doing wrong? I really appreciate your help.

Try running right from about 3 steps back, then just before the edge, hit the jump key while running. The first few times you'll go right over the edge of the next spot - you have to practice your timing to stop running just at the right time. It is not easy, but then, once you get the timing down, you'll wonder why you had such a hard time. It is very similar to the technique for getting up the stairs in Storm Valley.

Practice, practice, practice. (In our house it is known as the "Three P's")

Susan, I suspect you're not getting the double speed power-up that's on the pedestal right by the entry door. Just jump up right in front of it and the little guy will be speeded up!

Then RUN right from there, and hit the jump button just as you reach the end of the ledge. You'll land on the next ledge. Your problem will be stopping before you fall off, but you'll get that down with a little practice. After that, walk all the way to the left on the little ledge, run again, and jump. The power-up will last long enough to get you where you want to go.

    • Thanks, everybody! I really appreciate the assistance in making Ferazel's Wand the greatest diversion from work that I've ever had. 🙂

I've been trying . . . and I guess I just don't have it down yet. I did pick up the double speed powerup just before leaping.

I'll let ya know when I make it!

      Best,

      Susan

Stopping? Now why on earth would you stop? 🙂

Well, at least I never stopped, I know that it's not necessary to stop. I just bounded right across the gaps 😄

    • That was something that was suppose to be hard? I did in one try.

Well, it's only hard if you don't read all the directions. I never knew I had a "run" key. I thought I was running with the double speed powerup. 🙂

Thanks, everybody! I'm back to wasting valuable time again!

Heh, don't feel too bad. I'm a huge Quake player, and there is also a run key in Quake. However, there is also an option for "always run" which, naturally, I always have turned on. Apparently, even though I set a key for run in FW, being so used to Quake caused me to not use it and think I was running 🙂

Of course, once I remembered that I could run, it was basically hold my pinky on Shift the entire time I was playing 😛

    • You could have knocked me over with a feather powerup.

For some reason I decided to check my preferences and found that the SHIFT key is our default key for running.

Gee, you think that coulda helped before?

      Best,

      Susan

    • Hey You have to use the shif key to run as fast as you can then jump, and as Zelda said make sure you fllow the spiders they do go down on the 4th jump I think.
