    • I have a few questions about a specific weapon & ammo, (it's not a bug). If another tester would be willing to help me, I'd appreciate it.

    • Fire away, I'm sure someone can help.

      Booo. 😛

Okay. Are Railguns (fixed, not turreted) primary or secondary weapons?

The 200mm Railgun shows up in the weapon status display like the Phased Ion Beam, but the 100mm doesn't. Could be a bug.

    • Hm, you're right. The 150 and 200 are flagged as secondary. Smells like a bug to me...

    • Thank you for checking that out for me.

    • HALP.

Okay, I seem to be having a recurring issue with Defenders. They explode like Cargo Bombs when I launch them, every time, no matter from which ship, which system, etc, etc. And yes, this is with a brand new pilot file.

Tim couldn't duplicate the bug on his own, so I emailed him my pilot file to see what happens.

Could this be because I am using Nova 1.0.8?

    • Could be. Update to Nova 1.0.10, and try again. However, keep a copy of Nova 1.0.8 just in case.

    • Okay. I was hoping for something more definitive, but thanks anyway.

    • The reason the Defender explodes is because it has 0 armour.

    • I was going to guess that but how come Tim can't reproduce it? 0 armour ships should self-destruct on any version of Nova.

    • Okay, 0 armor makes sense.

Am I the only one experiencing this?

I sent him my pilot file and he didn't have any problems with it. I got the 1.0.10 upgrade and will install it tonight and see what happens. 😕

    • Otay...

      I upgraded to Nova 1.0.10.
      I started another new pilot.
      I even trashed the prefs.

And the defenders still explode upon launching. Doesn't matter which ship I install the bay in. Also happens with the Commercial Frigate, in which the bay and 2 defenders are standard. I haven't emailed Tim because I want to see if someone else can duplicate this, either with my file, or their own.

Would someone mind testing out my pilot file? PM me and let me know your email address and I'll send it to you. I would appreciate it.

      FYI I have a Dual 1.25 GHz G4, OS 10.4.9, 1.75 GB RAM.

    • Using Callide's pilot I experienced identical behavior. Upon launch of a Defender it immediately explodes. I'll upload pictures later.

I'm running EVN 1.0.10, I have a Core Duo MacBook 2 GHz with 2 Gb of RAM, and OS 10.4.9.

    • Well they ought to be exploding. According to the data, that is. I'm sure they aren't intended to explode. The question is why aren't they doing it on Tim's computer?

    • Hmm...I will say this...expect final beta within a few days.

      Thanks, Mack.

    • Here's those pictures I mentioned:

    • Hey that reminds me, do you (Tim) have the complete set of those Resolution ships (the original picts)? I know there aren't many of them but they aren't hosted anywhere anymore.

Indeed, here is a link what should be the final tester's beta:

      http://evula.org/emp...taTestFinal.zip

The shields of the Defender were set to about 50 so I'm not sure why they kept exploding upon launch, though that appeared to be geared towards using earlier versions of the NOVA application. The troubles with the railguns being secondary and neutron torpedo launch times (ouch!) have been dealt with and there are numerous other tweaks, fixes and eye candy.

This version should be the last beta tester before I get around to writing the formal mission strings.

      Thanks for your patience,

      Tim
