With the pesky defense fleet out of the way, the station now began it's attack. The guns were easily brought down. A frigate, however, was damaged beyond repair and smashed into an asteroid. The fleet circled in onto the station, and managed a fairly simple takeover.

With Darven out of the way with minimal effort, the 42nd quickly set it's path for Perseus, where Pegasus awaited to be conquered. They entered the system, and did the same old "look at us, we can squish you" routine. They paused for a brief attack sequence.

Perseus System
The Confederation fleet hulking over the tiny planet was threatening indeed, and with the confederate intent clear, a defense fleet is launched.

150 Defenders charge, getting mowed down by missiles and torpedos on the way.
Apon entering the ranks of the enemy, the Defenders buzz around, ganging up on single ships. They punish 2 Frigates for their ignorance, and then finish off the Rapiers. A warfrigate is next targeted by the remaining swarm of 60 Defenders.

Diphidia

Chaos reigned as the Hawks merged with Cheezy_Cracker's fleet. They reached the back of the line, where the Kestrel's were finally able to open fire, mowing through the ranks of the Hawks. The Hawks retreated, losing several more laggers, and tried to reform their lines with the merchants help. Their attack had managed to damage all of the Kestrel's shields to 49% though. Battle Group A, consisting of 10 Corvettes, 10 Lightnings, and 10 Rapiers, prevented the lines from reforming, however, as they made quick work of the weak Argosy and the slightly stronger Clipper, loosing 3 lightnings and 2 Rapiers to the missiles and Torpedoes of the two ships, and 1 Corvette to the lasers of the Hawks. Group A raced back to their own battle lines, as Group B, consisting of the rest of the fleet and the newly launched lightnings from the Kestrels, prepared to attack.

Diphidia System
The message broadcast from the Mercenary's fleet reached the pilots of the defense force, striking a bit too close to home. Keeping in mind those on the surface they'd be letting down, and the shame they'd face for giving up the fight for their freedom, they press on.

Hawks fire their missile volly, but with the disarray caused by the Mercenary's battle group, the missiles are each fired at almost an entirly different hostile each. The missiles impact causing minimal damage.
Incomming ordinance from the Merc fleet downs several more defending fighters, and the remaining Merchant bugged out for the Zaxted system deciding his life wasnt worth losing over a planet he wasnt so much as born on.

The 42nd began a fervent attack of the defenders. The patro, ships swooped in and took out a number of them, while the Frigates and Cruisers and Orions fired missles. Finally the frigates inched in and blew away the rest of the fleet with rockets. The ground army was taken down with minimal effort, once again.

Diphidia

With the last Merchant ship out of the way, and only 17 Hawks left, who were trying to reform a squad, Cheezy ordered his entire fleet to surround the defense fleet. A couple of damaged Hawks that were lagging behind the main group were shot down before the CCC Fleet encircled the entire squad. Cheezy told the Hawks that if they surrerender, their lives will be spared. All but two of the Hawks do so, the two rebels ram themselves into a lightning, destroying it, before they were stopped. The corvettes all dropped their loads of Marines down on the planet, which was already in chaose from those who wished to defend till the last, and those who wished for no more bloodshed. Within an hour, Diphidia II was in Cheezy's hands. He sold the captured Hawks for a profite of 2.4mil credits, and released their pilots back to their families.
