    • Windows Users - EV Files

You know what would be really nice? I have looked at some of the contributed EV files on Ambrosia's site, and almost all of them are a .sit or .hqx file. Now that really doesn't help out Windows users. I know you can download Stuffit expander for Windows, but frankly it doesn't work so well. In fact 25% of the time it either ties Windows up for a long time, or crashes Stuffit Expander.

Also seeing as Evula.net doesn't really have that much EVO info, it would be nice if some, somewhere posted some of the EV/EVO/EV:Nova Walkthroughs in a .txt file so that people using any operating system (yes even Linux and the like) can get access to these files.

It would be nice to see the files done in .txt format....

P.S. this is not Mac bashing because I like all P.C. irregardless of what O.S. runs on them.

    • Interesting suggestion, But there are (alas!) some problems:
-these files have often been made in Mac-only formats that allow formatting, images, and such, and use Mac-specific things (such as resource forks, some are even little applications) that you can't have on PC, unless one does a complete conversion, not just change the way they are encoded.
-does anyone feel like taking them one by one to be put in .txt? Not to mention txt is not actually cross-platform (the end-of-line chars are not the same). During a discussion in the EVDC about the format the readme accompanying plugs should be in, we determined that there were only two true cross-platform text formats that can be opened by anyone and we can ask anyone to save in: HTML and RTF.

Could you indicate me the files you're interested in? I'll first try (since I'm on a PC right now) to find if one can take as much information as possible from them on a PC, then back on my Mac I'll try to convert them, if possible.

      2 things:

      1. It's "EVula," not "Evula."

      2. The Survival Guide is on evula.com, not evula.net. 😛

Dunno what the Survival Guide not having EVO info has to do with anything, but the Survival Guide (an older version of it) is available it it's native HTML form, which is compatible with any OS that has a web browser. The file it is stuffed in is a .hqx, though... future files will be a more friendly format, I suppose, though in my defense, the Windows version wasn't out when I did it.

I don't see why, given how much data there is in the Survival Guide... it would be a pain to sort through it all.
