    • EVGE - Proximan Missions

I've been hanging around the Talaria and Andwafa systems for ages - at least 4 hours - but I still haven't seen the disabled Proximan Bird of Prey.

Can someone please explain how to change the availability of the first mission.

Which parts need to be changed using ResEdit so that the Intro Mission is made available on a Planet - either in the Bar or on the Mission computer?

      Thanks.

Well, I believe you only need to check the Talaria system; it's the only system that it'll ever show up in.

There is no way to change the availability of the first mission once you've started playing, because your pilot file will not react to any changes you make to the pers resources. Another thing to note -- if you didn't start your pilot file from scratch after putting EVGE in your plug-ins folder, it'll be impossible to get the mission.

However, I suppose it is possible to do a little hack...you'd have to check the EV resource bible for specifics, but you basically have to change the mission's AvailLoc to bar or mission computer.

    • You've got the systems correct. Unfortunatly, because EVGE offers the mission through a ship using the përs resource, there is no way to increase the probability of discovering it.

Make sure your pilot file was started while EVGE was loaded (not a previous pilot using the EVGE plugin as an expansion for his/her previous exploits). If you added EVGE to your plugins folder after your pilot was created, the evge përs ships will not appear. This is due to an engine limitation involving a bit for each përs resource that is set upon pilot creation to control their use of escape pods.

If you've got all this working, then you should eventually run into the crippled proximan ship. Just hang in there and be patient.

And Mike, as usual, beats me to it 😃

      edit 2:

Perhaps somebody should put together a little EVGE Helper Plugin that switches the available location?

That's something I should consider doing this weekend, if I have time.

As far as porting it to Nova, I did get Stoffe to reply to my e-mail finally...but I had to tell him what EV Nova (as opposed to "Nova") was. Once my nightmare of work is over (I feel like I'm about to keel over and die doing college applications) I just might be able to get that sorted out (not to mention helping finish NR).

The first thing I'll have to see though, is whether Stoffe has any interest in EV at this point...it's been a while for him.

    • So, Firebird...It has been a bit...have you heard anything from Stoffe about EVGE? I just got back into it again, and an update for EV EVO or EV Nova would have me downloading the EVGE final in a heartbeat.

    • No, no word yet. I'll send him another e-mail and see if he responds. In the meantime, I've continued a slow trickle of work on the port to EVO.

Sorry about bringing up an old topic, but I made the helper plug-in AJ suggested (darn, should've credited him in the readme, I forgot)...it's available here:

Not so! I saw it once in the Andwafa system-unfortunately I had already hit the jump button when I spotted it. I have actually got the mission only in the Talaria system.

Ah, yes, you're right. There are actually three pers resources for the Crippled BoP; two are in the Talaria system and one in Andwafa. The probability that one will appear in the Talaria system is, consequently, twice as high, under normal conditions.
