      In changing Macs, I've lost a little program I found to be very handy. I think it was called "Flagger" or "EV Flagger". It was a little hypercard thing that calculated the hexadecimal flags for spobs, etc.

      Very useful and I really miss it. I can't find it on the website. Can anyone tell me where to find it -- or maybe even mail me a copy?

    • It works like this:

      1=1, 2=2, 3=3, 4=4, 5=5, 6=6, 7=7, 8=8, 9=9, A=10, B=11, C=12, D=13, E=14, F=15, 10=16, 11=17, and so on. If you've worked with non base 10 numbers before, it makes sense. If you haven't, it's not that difficult to learn, you can just ask your math teacher for a quick lesson it. It's not as easy as pressing buttons, but it's not all that hard, either.

    • Actually, there are only digits for 0 - 15 in hex. (Just like there are only 0 and 1 in binary and 0 - 9 in base 10).

      I know how they work, I'm just lazy enough to appreciate the program.

      Also, the program is keyed to the particular flag values for EV.

      I got it somewhere several years ago, any old-timers out there remember it?

    • TSB, EV Formula Calc is not what he is looking for. He wants something to help with flags; not resource ID numbers.

      Professor: If it is not on the ev addons site, I do not know what to tell you. It sounds handy, so if you find it be sure to tell us where. Sorry I can't be of more help.

      Yeah, I know... so, when you get to 16, it is expressed as 10.

    • if you are just translating hex, you can put it in the right hand column of any resource in resedit, and it comes out in the corresponding in the left column...but no i havent seen your program.

      Looks like you need to learn some ResEdit and get the EVBAE. But if that other program works for you - then, by all means, try to fin dit.

      Hey, ares1, you were right - you always said I'd get the hang of ResEdit - well, I did, and now I'm a diehard. 😄

      I'm under the impressin that this is something like the EV Formula Calc to use with ResEdit, except it handles flags, not ID#s.

      Persackly.
      Flager (sic) is a tool that takes the drudgery out of calculating flags, as Formula Calc does for ID#s or a standard calculator does for arithmetic.

      I haven't gone anywhere -- I'm not dissatisfied with anything -- I just have a couple of real world jobs that take a certain amount of time and energy.

      PS: The program is called Flager 1.1 and it not only adds hex nicely, it remembers the values for each component.
