    • A Question regarding the Astrodyne missions

Hey, well I'm new here so what's up everyone? In the Astrodyne V mission, i am supposed to find and board a Confederation transport carrying a weapon prototype from a NCC planet to Ruby. Well I checked all over the place on the route and around it...Where the heck is this stupid transport??? Any help would be appreciated...

    • I'm not sure exactly where it is, but you could poke around in the data files with ResEdit (or EV-Edit, if you're desperate) and look at that mďsn.

If ResEdit confuses you, read the (url="http://"http://www.evula.com/ev_bible/")EV Bible.(/url) That'll tell you what you need to look for in the mďsn resource.

Warning: when using ResEdit, always work on a backup. Same goes with EV-Edit, although ResEdit is MUCH more powerful, and as such, much more dangerous.

I tend to disagree. As long as you only look and don't change anything with ResEdit, you can't really hurt anything. EV-Edit, however, offers far higher potential for damage due to its bugginess - it can mess up data files just by opening.

Though working with a backup in ResEdit is still not a bad idea. I never do any actual editing in the data file; I'd suggest doing any actual scenario changes in plugin files.

If you want to try to do the mission without looking up the answer in ResEdit, focus on Uninhabited systems near the Trugati Asteroid Belt. 😉

Heh, now you tell us... That might change something, I don't know. I've never played through GS. Since the mission is the same, I assume the same location is still correct, but a GS veteran would probably have to confirm that. When asking questions, it's generally a good idea to tell us if you're using any plugs ahead of time.

    • whoops sorry bout that
aren't the astrodyne missions in the original? I did some of them a long long time ago...
Galactic Scourge is pretty interesting, and the missions are certainly interesting themselves. The upgrades, weapons, and ships all look nice as well so I'd recommend it!

Yes. That's why I assume they'd be the same, but GS could have changed it.

Oh, I have it. I just don't really play EV enough anymore to play through it. Too busy doing HTML work and plug development.

    • that's another something that i was interested in; are there actually endings to these games? I assume not, but i'm not completely sure.

    • There is no ending to either EV or EVO.

I tend to disagree. It has been more than once that changes I've made were saved, even though I didn't tell it to. Try copying all of EV's targets into a file. Then delete them all. The last time I did that (although it was more images than EV's total target #), I didn't save it. When I opened it back up, all but 3 images were gone (however, that was the point of that particular file, so no harm was done).

...however, most people consider the Alien missions pretty much the "end" of the game.

I said "not change anything," not "not save after changing something." 😛 Big difference.

Well, I can't really argue with that, but the point about working on a backup still stands tall and true. After all, all it takes is a slight mis-click or accidental key click, and you've made a change (or two, if you're really clumsy), and as I illustrated earlier, changes CAN get saved, even if you tell ResEdit to not save.

      So there. 😛

    • I am almost certain that Glactic Scourge (one of my favorite plugs) does not change the location of the weapons transport.

    • In GS it is in Castor, as it is in standard EV.

I find it easiest to check using Schmelta-V. (But be sure not to save, it changes the fail bit to 0 from 1.)

You can find info on this at (url="http://"http://www.geocities.com/ev_scourge/cheaters.html")http://www.geocities...e/cheaters.html(/url) when it isn't shut down by the slime at Geocites.

Oh I forgot to add, Galactic Scourge has an ending.

I did say it was still a good idea, just more necessary with EVE. 😛
