The forklift cheat: when you see "M.C.B. 4:35 A.M." hold down
option-shift-control-command-F. This gives you the forklift but it erases, all your other secondary weapons.

I killed an alien Cruiser with these ships (in order):

Rebel Cruiser
Confed Cruiser
Kestrel
Rapier
Manta
Defender
Shuttle

It's easy. There's a tactic (a bit like monty python) with a tractor beam, to kill anythiing without turrets (ie. alien Cruiser).

About Matt Burch. Well, I killed him in my Manta (the same one that killed the Alien Cruiser :D). I also killed him in my Kestrel, but that's different...

his sheilds recharge faster than you can hurt him with any turrets, the only way for a manta with forklifts. You didn't use forklifts, did you?

It might be possible with a corvette or something if you use javelin rockets, but I don't have experiance killing that cruiser with them, so i don't know if they can damage it's shields as fast as they recharge, or if they even last (if you get 999 javelins). I do know, however, that in order to actually harm it, you need either 6 proton cannons (which no ships can have because the max is 5) or at least 3 proton turrets. Then it takes a tractor beam (optional), and a long time. You would still need a bitch load of javelins (probably over 999) to kill an AC with a ship smaller a kesteral.

It took several tries, but I defeated it in a souped up Corvette years ago 'sides, the Kestrel is crap. I just waited until it launced all of its seeker drones then I bombed its sides with a hail of laser fire. I left the fighters to the Rebel fleet.

What I am saying is just that without using infinate fuel for the particle beam, or having about 2000 javelins (you can get ovewr 999 by capturing more), is that it is just impossible with a ship lower than a kesteral.

it is only possible if you have 3 turrets and at least 3 cannons (proton)

If you do not have those slots available, it is impossible unless you somehow can hurt him with avelins or have a ship with 40 jumps (max 9) to use the particle beam for large amounts of time.

Actually, that's only the case for the Fighters read my post a few more times. The Cruiser's shield regen isn't all that great

A trick I used. Get the Tractor beam. Keep the Swivel Laser Cannons. Wait till it runs out of homing weapons. Then, go to the side of it. Hold it still with the Tractor beam. Rotate youself in its direction. Fire. Took ages, but I done it. By the way, you can do this with anything without turrets. In EV, the Tractor beam is infiate. I had no upgrades. try it and see.
