I find it very interesting that an Ambrosia poll reveals that next to EV/O people like Avara better than any other Ambrosia game. Here are the stats as of 4/18/2001:
      Survey
      What is your favorite
      Ambrosia game?
      EV Override: 32.86%
      Escape Velocity: 27.81%
      Avara: 6.27%
      Cythera: 5.57%
      Ferazel's Wand: 5.53%
      Apeiron: 5.10%
      Ares: 3.46%
      Bubble Trouble: 2.92%
      Maelstrom: 2.74%
      Mars Rising: 2.38%
      Barrack: 1.91%
      Harry: 1.86%
      Swoop: 0.83%
      Slithereens: 0.49%
      Chiral: 0.27%
      Total Votes: 4452

I should have figured that would screw up.

Defender, could you please edit your topic to cut out the other information? (ie make it look something like the above).

Something interesting to note: According to the latest results, 6.30% of the people who responded said they like Avara best. Now, that may not sound like much, but (my math may be a bit rusty) that's about 280 people. So, where are all these people? I wouldn't say that more than 50 people actualy play Avara online regularly. However, it's nice to know that it isn't the biggest failure ever in AmbrosiaSW history, which some people here seem to think it is... It simply needs better enforcement of shareware. I am sad to say that I have yet to register (still, but I will!). But for the more unethical, there simply isn't enough reason to register. You can play every aspect of the game. (minus two colors for HECTOR hulls) <more crappy math> 280 * $20 = $5600. Okay, verily that sucks, but it's something, right? And that's just people who think of Avara as their favorite game of all time and felt the need to make that heard in the form of a poll.

I think most of these people are from older times who still check the Ambrosia site from time to time and remember that Avara was really cool.
I too have yet to register, hehe... But if you go to the chronicles section and read my reply to the latest post there, I don't feel a very large debt of gratitude to Ambrosia, especially since they don't support the game as much as the community does.
Speaking of which the new lvl contest is out so get your entrys in! And don't forget to vote either.
