    • Build Release Problem

I've been using coldstone a little bit , but I just registered for the forums. Hi all!

The problem is that when I build a release version of the game (OS X to be specific,) it doesn't seem to realize that I have actually registered Coldstone. After the game's title screen load, A dialog box comes up and says that the game was made with an unregistered copy of Coldstone and that distribution was prohibited. Has this happened to anyone else? The about box says that it's registered. I'm stumped.

      EDIT: Screwed-up siggy

    • First of all, welcome to the boards! (Take that, mods!)

Yes, many of us have had this problem. The only way to fix it is to e-mail David Dunham (not sure that the address is) and ask him for a version of Coldstone that fixes the Registration-Compiliatiation bug. He'll send it to you for free!

It may work to start a whole new project, as well, but who wants to do that?

    • Hi Turtlehunter. Welcome to the Boards. OgreBob is correct. The email address for David Dunham is:

    • Thanks for the help. I sent him an email. One more thing. The game's music and sound work in the uncompiled version, but not when I compile it. Is there a known solution for this?

I don't understand. How do you know they work in the uncompiled version?

Music has to be in your Music Folder and then, in the enter map event or load call, you have to link to it with a play music task naming the music you want played.

Sounds are either ambient sounds specified in the location editor or sounds which are linked to an NPC or item by their own editors.

In other words, putting your sound files into their folders is not enough, you have to tell the game when to play them.

    • No. This is just another aspect of the same build bug. Unregistered games screw with the sound file. I believe that once you get the correct version, this problem will also go away. (It did for others. There is no guarantee that there is not another problem on top of this one!)

      Best of luck!

    • RD, I don't know about other CS games, but I can load saved games made with the above method via the load window, drag-n-drop, double-clicking, and anything else you can think of. 🙂

    • Sorry if that was confusing. I put all the play music events in the general initialization events for my map locations. The music and sound wasn't just in the folder. And when I ran it using the launch button in coldstone, the sound and music worked.

      Hope that helps.
